This isnt about Rachel Allens sandwiches

Yes that would seem to be the least they should have done

Hard to give a known drug dealer the benefit of the doubt all the same.

They won’t be doing that for simple possession cases, the backlog would be crazy. By and large they’re not fought at all, let alone hiring engineers and the like.

Thing is, if a justice system is to work, a judge has to give a lot of weight to the word of a Garda, especially one who sounds to have had a good and unblemished career, and to give credence to eye witness statements.

That is understandable but it’s a very unfair system

Very few have the resources to fight a case in the way Allen went about it either, which is plenty unfair in its own way too.

even if he was innicent, youd think a lad with a suspended sentence over him for drugs offences would stay well away from any eventualities that could see that sentence being activated

why would he? He thinks he is above the law

Cork

6 months in chokey last time out shouldve disabused him of that notion.

He hardly served anything like that

if he was sentenced to 6 he probably did 1 at the most

iirc he was sentenced to 30 months and did 6

sentenced to 30 but how much was suspended, at least half? serving half of that again would be best case

Gardaí told Judge Gabbett that Allen had received a custodial sentence at Circuit Court level in 2020 for possession of over €22,000 worth of cannabis for sale and supply and had served seven months in prison.

I thought the likes of him would have been first put out the gap when covid hit, apparently not
