I disagree. The big dealers control both hard and soft drug markets. A lad selling weed will come under pressure to sell coke.

My between the lines reading of it is the Guards want this fella gonzo from the area. They’ve been plaguing him since he got out. He has two court cases for road traffic offences coming up too. I’d say they are keeping a very close eye on him.

Not in cork maybe, but I’d struggle to buy a kilo of weed. I suspect most people would. He has two driving offences and was caught with cocaine whilst on probation. I’d say what he was caught with is only the tenth of it, unless he’s the worst criminal in the country.

Most lads selling a bit of weed wouldn’t have a clue what to do with heroin or who to sell it to. There’s also a major difference in perception. People don’t see any harm in weed, it’s a huge leap to crack or heroin, different worlds. They aren’t and can’t all be viewed as the same.

A kilo is not “a bit” of weed. It’s an awful awful lot of weed.

Life was very simple when I was growing up. No drugs in Waterford. Fewer bad choices to make. There is very poignant footage on the internet of kids in Dublin inner city in the mid 70s before the heroin epidemic hit. It was a rotten thing that the Dunne family did.

A bar of hash is about a qurter of a kilo. If he had 4 9-bars of hash he was dealing a lot. But think it was weed.
