A big decision to make and a huge show of faith in Cahill.
I really hope I’m wrong but I don’t share the same level of faith myself as there are just too many disaster files on his record for me, to be handing him the keys to nurture the best crop of underage prospects we’ve had in the County in 20 years.
We’ve given plenty other managers the bullet for a lot less.
Anyway I’m not sure if these ‘three year terms’ actually mean all that much in the grand scheme, as if next year was to mirror this year I think a change would be on the cards, three year term or not.
Hopefully significant lessons can be learned from 2026 as the talent pool coming through has never been better and they deserve to be managed/nurtured properly.

Wouldnt have the same faith myself but he has knowhow in terms of winning AIs.
Competition wasnt outstanding either?
I knew from the way Cummins was on TSG the other night Cahill had gotten another stint.
Has the Waterford role been finalised yet?

Waterford are making a mess of things again by all accounts.
They just dont know how to make a managerial appointment at all.
Cahill is just a boom or bust manager and there are too many bust years unfortunately.
Another year like 2026 won’t do but if we can even do a Waterford and keep all the games tight while blooding young players I think that would be a decent step forward. Now obviously that depends on retirements in other counties, Clare could go back a lot, Waterford could as well depending on availability of their players and it could open up a bit for Tipp

Deserved win for Cashel vs Drom. Drom hurled better against the wind and had Cormac Fitz destroying their full back line; went in 6 points down with a gale to come. Resorted to route one then in the second period with some success, getting it back to a point initially, but took Fitz completely out of the game. Cashel deployed a sweeper and took back control of the game and saw it out. Oisin O’Donoghue very prominent in the final quarter in setting up some crucial scores.
Callanan was ok in spurts but looked disinterested and unfit at other stages, and a couple of bizarre substitutions which saw Johnny Ryan and Tony Cahill replaced after scoring 7 points between them, which seemed to give Cashel a lift.
