Bringing his unique management style to Toomevara this year

The new, more subtle Davy Fitzgerald.

It’s all the players fault, but I’ll take responsibility for it, but it’s their fault not mine.

When you’ve two players performing and the rest asleep facing into Limerick following weekend, it’s hard not to land a few grenades.

You can and should be firing your shots behind closed doors.

He would be well entitled to fuck them all out of it.

Or maybe they should be fucking him out of it. Didn’t he throw the Waterford players under the bus too.

House private lads. Tipp will be grand on their own.

Tipp will be fine. We’ve turned things around quickly in the past and we will do so again. A full bells and whistles inquest took place in a 90 minute extended edition of Extra Time on Tipp FM tonight. The healing can now begin.

I’ve seen a few posters on a couple of threads dismissing the underage element, but there’s over 80 individual young fellas walking around Tipp between 17-21 who have started on either an All Ireland Minor, U20 or Harty Cup winning team. That number could rise further to almost 100, in a months time if this years Minors go all the way. That number doesnt count subs on those teams like a Jamie Ormond who hit 1-05 from play in Limerick last Wednesday night and was on the bench for the Seniors on Saturday.

Obviously a fair share of them have already been written off and more wont ever make it, but I’d be very confident, we’ll get 25 serious Inter County Seniors from it to win multiple more All Ireland’s at Senior in the next decade. I’ll eat my hat if we don’t to be honest.

What’s the over/under line for this hat-eating benchmark? 3.5??

Off that u20 team I’d say the following are almost guaranteed Tipp starters for the future.

OOD
Tobin
Murray

There should be at least 1 or 2 more which would be a great return. The issue then is that those players are coming into a team with very little between the ages of 25-30 so I think we’ll have to wait a bit longer until we get that experience to realise the potential

I also think the Harty Cup is completely overrated as a development competition. Tipp have won the last 4 yet there was 1 Tipp player on the Fitzgibbon team of the year this year, and he didn’t even go to a hurling school

Kierans winning the majority of Croke cups in the last 10 years has done nothing for Kilkenny.

If Tipp schools were romping through the Harty Cup every year i’d share their optimism but those Harty Cup’s were won by a puck of a ball and only 1 All Ireland win after.

As a thought exercise - what would be an potential/expected Tipp 15 come 2028

I think O’Reilly and Adam Ryan are certainties too.

Tipp should have O’Reilly and Robert Doyle as two top class corner backs to go to war with for the next decade. David Ryan and Conor Collins coming behind them too.

Adam Ryan, Euan Murray and Sam O’Farrell has the makings of a very strong half back line in the very near future.

Up front, Darragh McCarthy and OO’D need to be backed - Stefan Tobin and Paddy McCormack (Borris) too.

Jake Morris should have another 4 or 5 good years left in him and Eoghan Doughan/David Costigan/Jamie Ormond/Robbie Ryan/Conal Morrison should be a serious forward unit in the making.

There’s a big group of lads like Adam Daly/Joe Egan/Cathal English/Conor Martin/Patrick Ryan/Jake Donnellan Houlihan and probably a dozen more who all have the potential to step up. You’d hope some of them will.

The 25-30 year old’s like Connolly/O’Mara/Morgan/Andrew Ormond are all Senior All Ireland winners and might have a bit more left in them too despite having failed to live up to the 2025 heights this year.
