Tipperary Matters

Not that I know of, but we, Kilkenny West constituents of Tipperary North, got a superb letter from Alan Kelly with only one election issue/promise - getting us back into the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency.

Where’s the constituency border in KK?

The parish of Annacarty and Donohill being split up between North and South is absolutely iconic.

AK47, A vile human being

Lowry quoting Ger Henderson that All Ireland’s won by Kilkenny without beating Tipperary don’t count is sure get the great man a couple of extra thousand votes.

Ah we’ve always had that. Partitionland. The homeplace was North Tipp co council and South Tipp general election around 97. It was north in both for 02.

My brother built a house about a puck of a ball from the auld pair. He is south Tipp for this election while the auld pair are north. Lads going canvassing would really need to know their geography.

The auld pair are a bit put out about not being able to vote for Mattie now.

I’d be amazed if it gets as far as either of them taking the stand

Sounds like a serious flexing of muscle from the Coolmore battalion today.

Magnier Senior usually suns himself in Barbados until the week of the Guineas so obviously means serious business with this.

Would any of our Legal eagles like @ChairmanDan be able to give us as guide as to how this will play out?

I get the impression Eugene McCague would be considered a serious legal heavyweight to have in your corner.

Magnier has a brass neck God bless him and he going around with envelopes of €50k

I think we can all happily root for Regan Ltd here

And Tipp GAA taking money off him.

I Haven’t followed it closely but was there not something in a pre-trial application before Christmas that McCague was retired and didn’t hold a current practicing solicitors certificate? I must have a read up on it all when I get a chance.

I see Martin Hayden SC is for the Barne Estate. A son of a famous hurler.

Yeah but I’m sure McCague has all the right friends in all the right places to overcome that.

Was it Hayden’s father that Billy Quinn took for a hat trick in the League Final of '54?

It just says he was present rather than acting for anyone

It probably was. Diamond Hayden was best known for his responsibility in marking Nicky Rackard. They were seemingly very good friend and drinking buddies off the field.

Magner hasn’t a leg to stand on here surely.

A handshake couldn’t be a legally binding agreement

That would be my reading of it too. He’s chancing his arm.

He must feel its worth rolling the dice.

Its some farm of land.
