In fairness that Tipp full backline is as good as any in the country. Last year we didn’t get much change out of them either.
Watched the match again and we didn’t drill many low balls into the corners. Look at Waterford last week, they had great success from intelligent low driven passes into the full forward line. In their defence Mulcahy and Tobin barely received a decent delivery between them. We did hit a lot of aimless balls in high which suits neither of them.
Mulchay got an absolute peach of a diagonal delivery from the old stand side across to the new stand side, had 5 yards on his man yet failed 3 times to rise it. We can’t afford to be that lax against the stronger counties like Clare and Wexford
What way do the qualifiers work this year, I am led to believe that there has been a bit of a tweak to them
It will be interesting to see how Limerick perform in the Munster final, regardless whether they play Cork, Clare or Waterford. They were seriously written off yesterday and seemed to draw hueg motivation from it. While their workrate and heart was excellent there was plenty of sloppy stuff too which will be overlooked somewhat due to the fact they won. I suppose the question is how much of yesterdays win was down to the motivation they took from being written off by all and sundry and the O’Grady controversy and can they replicate it again or was it a one off. If they can replicate that desire and sharpen up the hurling and tighten up backline a bit more they will be a tough nut to crack.
While Teeg deserves credit for the win, I think it was more down to the players and that Teeje will be found out later in the year, but who know
Your some Tipp man slating one of our players like that… Callinan was well marked but still scored two from play… What do people expect him to do?
The game was lost at midfield where we were totally destroyed by Browne and Ryan. Shane McGrath simply doesn’t have the stamina anymore to play I/C hurling for 70 minutes. Bergin not in it at all. Woodlock was badly missed.
The backs were far too lackadaisical about clearing the dangerzone. Paudie Maher needs to command the square better and forget about the fancy stuff. Taking off Barry was crazy and a poor error of judgement from O’Shea. Was reasonably solid without being spectacular. A fine debut from Barrett, a small positive on a dark day for Tipp hurling.
If you’re calling for Woodlock to be brought back then Tipp really are in the shit. McGrath never had it in him to be fair. Surely the most maligned player in Tipp since big Michael Webster.
Didn’t get to see the game live yesterday, I still have to watch it back in full, one can’t tell a whole lot from highlights. I must commend “Teej” and back room staff on a job well done. He did something that Allen or O’Grady rarely did, and that is start our strongest XV.

Ah bollox. No picture of yourself at the game then, pal?
I see what you did there
Leave @watchthebreak out of this

When you’ve 5 teams that are around the same shit level you’re bound to get entertainment. The quality however is in Leinster.
Apart from three of the four all ireland semi finalists, yes.
Another smashing retort.
I was pretty sure only 3 teams turned up for those semi finals
GOM was absolutely bollixed for the last 10 mins. His man a crossfield run at one stage and was a good 10 yards off him, Wayne mac had to follow him instead while Gavin held the center. Pretty sure tipps last 3 shots came down that side as well.
Breen should have been on instead of GOM. I was surprised he wasn’t subbed. Breen is back playing in the backs for his club whereas GOM is playing in the forwards.
Breen is playing the best hurling of his career, much stronger on the ball and his hands have improved as well. I can’t understand how he’s not making the team.
tipperary , you’re a lady…

@Julio Geordio won’t like that.
He’s only just back from injury and in fairness hasn’t played/convinced at half back at this level yet, even if he has been the best 6 in Limerick at club level. Gavin wasn’t good but has been our most consistent back for the last 5 years, you’d worry to take him off. I would have expected Tom Ryan as a sub wing back before Breen and would have expected Breen or Allis as a wing forward before Ryan… Also, Breen had the helmet on and looked ready to come in at one stage, maybe management changed their mind.

How is Gavin playing in the forwards?
The team management selected him there, pal.
It’s a cunning plan the Sparrow has us working on at the moment.
Only coming around now after the weekends events to manage to post. A heavy one was had!!
Super win. We fought like demons for everything and our heart and guts can never be questioned. However, i felt we were a bit off the pace. In truth we were poor in many areas of the game. I thought with 10 minutes to go we looked a tired tired team. Gavin and Paudie in particular were out on their feet. We made poor use of our bench, and much more trust in the panel and its depth will have to be shown if we are to further advance.Lets not judge ourselves on the fact that we beat Tipp. Look at our own performance, and it is clear there is bags more left in this side, loads more. Condon, Richie, Hickey, Browne and James Ryan were outstanding. Still loads to come from the rest. And isn’t that a brilliant thing to be able to say after beating Tipp in Thurles. But its the truth. Super win, but don’t let anybody tell you Limerick were excellent yesterday. They were gutsy, determined, full of fight, but our hurling has a bit to go again. The players and management know that. Over the next 6 weeks that can be improved greatly.
As for Tipp, as i have said before, windy cunts.
Noel McGrath - most over-rated hurler in the country. Loves the fancy stuff. Has no bottle and is soft as shit.
Lar Corbett - windy. Spent most of his time trying to avoid Condon. Bringing him on was the losing of the game in many ways, Tipp changing 4 lines of the field to accomodate him.
Seamie Callinan - what needs to be said. Got on the world of ball and did very little with it.
Shane McGrath - always fades when the chips are down.
Kieran Bergin - tries hard but not up to it.
Shane Bourke - great man to bring on in a league game or if ahead by 5 or 6
If Tipp could clone Gearoid Ryan, Bonner Maher and John O’Dwyer they’d be going well, three boys who rarely let them down. Give me any of the 3 over Noel McGrath or Callinan or Lar any day of the week.
and even then two of them were from munster
