Says your man whoâs known around Malahide for peeling an orange in his pocket
Youâd have to offer to pay the bill for this to be an issue for you.
That comment triggered the TFK blandys
Those ultra long haul flights wonât pay for themselves
Self service machines in the US actually offer for you to tip them
And they wank in your tea if you donât
Full disclosure I never tipped a barber in my life until I discovered in the TFK haircut thread what an enormous social faux pas I was making.
Other than that and restaurants I wouldnât really tip. If itâs a coffee place Iâm frequently in I might pay by cash once in a blue moon and chuck the change in a tipping jar.
I donât mind tipping for takeaway coffees. Its only a small amount and the staff are generally on shit wages.

Youâre gone awful right wing since u moved to C4.
The bean counters only want to count their own beans
A tipping nazi?
Lads paying through their nose for microplastic and robusta bean soup, and them crippiled with anxiety at the thought of it. The country is in pratie ground.
The famine has a lot to answer for
Lads with 6 figure salaries begrudging a euro to minimum wage workers. Hardly surprising the blueshirts keep getting elected.
Would you pay someone a fiver to make four coffees then?
Iâd never tip a physio but would tip a masseuse
Do you tip the minimum wage lady on the cash register when getting groceries? Or buying a tin of pop in the shop? What about in fast food outlets? The cleaner outside public toilets?
As a matter of interest, how are you an outlier on wedding gifts?
Wrt to tipping options, just hit the No Tip button if thatâs the way you feel, maybe youâll tip another time, personally I nearly always tip for service but never t/a. Yesterday evening I stopped in Fanny OâDeaâs on way home from Kilkee, tea for 2 and 2 desserts, the bill included a coffee which wasnât mine. They took it off the bill when I pointed it out, and I didnât tip, my reasoning was that this careless mistake (it was quiet) didnât deserve a tip. In general Iâm a generous tipper, usually 10-15%, as I grew up in the trade. Itâs a trade thatâs absolutely fucked now though, staff shortages seem to be a huge issue, horrible hours for shite wages
A place I used often stop into for coffee or a sandwich introduced this a year ago. It is cheeky the way the no tip option is minimised. I was annoyed at first and then thought why are the staff in this place any less meriting of a tip than staff in a restaurant where Iâd give more than ten percent. Similar job, Dublin city centre etc. Tips are generally pooled and shared between all staff in most places anyway is my understanding, or theyâre supposed to be. I think it kinda shows up the unwritten rules in tipping to be a load of shite.
