To Kill A Mocking Bird

To read Go Set a Watchman or not? I’m not sure I can do it given the initial buzz about it, or more specifically Atticus Finch.

Not. People are desperate to read true life into a preliminary draft, never meant for publication apparently, of a fictional story about a fictional character.
Some loudmouth fools giving it large about attic us being a KKK member.
Someone needs to sit them down and explain calmly that atticus finch doesn’t actually exist.

Author didn’t want it published so definitely not.

Peck’s a legend.

That’s a bit like saying I shouldn’t be reading other people’s PMs. I don’t think anyone wants that.

Yea, I think I’ll skip it for any number of reasons really. You can take your pick from the fact that if she did indeed write TKAM, and if she wanted this to come out, it would have been out a long time ago, not to mention the situation regarding her estate and those who may be pushing the publishing of this.

I’ll not be sullying the memory of the great Atticus Finch.

He was a racist mate, even in the first book. Re-read with the fact that he is a racist in mind and it will completely change the book for you.

I suspect reading that would make me very sad/angry, and therefore I’ll be giving it a miss :see_no_evil:
