Itâs regarded as the luckiest SB win⌠But that does a huge disservice to the Giantâs and their D. They had a bit of luck on the play but thatâs not the reason they won. As I said, most winning teams get a few breaks

Is it considered a lucky win because of that catch? Eli scrambled when he could have been brought down and hauled it downfield, Tyree did what he could to bring it in, which he did legally, they still had a bit to do.

The Seahawks TEâs catch to set them up in the Redzone before the Malcolm Butler interception would have gone down as luckier than Tyree.

Edelman somehow hauling in what should have been an interception due to the fact that the tipped ball landed on top one of the Falconâs defenders foot is surely as big a stroke of good fortune as those mentioned

Awful pixelated video, but this was the play right before that Tyree catch. A relatively simple interception for Asante Samuel to haul in but he missed it. Next play then Tyree makes an unreal catch after incredible scrambling by Manning. Shit happens. Patriots had only 14 points on the board. Just one of those games. The Patriots had scored a crapload all season but the playoff run was very much understated. They had a cracker of a game with the giants over the Christmas holidays I remember that they scraped home a 3 point win to keep the unbeaten streak going. They were odds on to win, but it wasnt a shock to see the Giants had their number considering the form line.
Another quirk with Sundays result, the team with the worst record of the superbowl pairings has won 13 of the last 14 Superbowls, or something close to that figure. The one team with the better record winning is the Patriots beating the Falcons.

I remember the game a bit, i remember the catch very well, Iâve just watched it back now.
It was an extraordinary catch, it wasnât a lucky catch, it was a great one, just because he wasnât a marquee reciever you have lads thinking it was pure luck. any WR who plays in the NFL isnât a bum.
It wasnât a 4th down and there was plenty to do afterwards, they held the Perfect Patriots to 14 points. Of course you need a bit of luck in tight games but Iâm surprised to see it regarded as the luckiest in history, and Iâm surprised to see it referred to as the most famous catch in football history, has somebody never heard of âthe catchâ??

This is the old Kev debate about what is luck. Same with Edelmans catch. It was brilliant awareness and agility to make it, but both catches were unusual and freakish in nature that more often than not would be an incompletion. To call it pure luck is a disservice to Tyree, he showed great strength to hold on under pressure. It was a freakish catch that is the type of thing that puts one team over another to win games.
