[quote=āscumpotā]this whole thing is very sadā¦the government wants this whole public v private head to head as it takes the heat off them and their failingsā¦

Very true indeed.
What do you bet that Brian Cowen will go running to Aengus Fanning to get his rag to stoke the embers of this potential conflict? The same as Bertie crawling to the Sindo before the 2007 election to get their support.
The trade-off could be Brendan OāConnor in the Seanad to join Eoghan Harris!
blow it out your hole fake crakeā¦what about the real life Ross OāCarroll kelly in the audience complaining about his paycut and his suit costing more than most civil servants yearly wageā¦

āā¦ Iām on considerably less than 100K a year.ā
In other words, heās on about 80K and was on 160K before his 50% cut. Probably a solicitor, judging by the cut of his suit, and has taken a hit from the lack of conveyancing ripping-off opportunities these days.
TV3 and Vincent is where itās at, the great man was going through Sean Ardagh tonight, ably assisted by Fionnan Sheahan. Ardagh made a vague reference to being on the board of a state body, and being made aware of something that had been going on, something he should have known about for much longer. Gobshite opening his mouth, and he then wouldnāt go on and reveal anything further despite the best efforts of the lads.
A guy gets up to speak, dressed smartly I admit, and says that he had to take a 50% pay cut. Cue a pile of āoh my heart bleeds for youā comments from the public sector lads. My heart bleeds for you lads with your safe, well paid jobs protected by unions and your pension entitlements.
If that guy is a solicitor so what - he worked hard to get that far. Went through exams and all the rest.
Scumpot - what were the people you know dismissed for? I have spoken to many people within the public service in HR and have been informed that they know of no one in their organisation that has got the bullet, and there could be 100 staff in each of them.

too many sick daysā¦i know 2 people who got the lollypop for thisā¦thereās so many urban myths going aroundā¦but i suppose youāre a case in point as to why these myths are put out thereā¦someone will always swallow itā¦
