A thoroughly alright sort.
He was quite enjoyable, hopefully he finds love in the near future
Few bigger piles of shite have ever been made.
Dr Strangelove on film four. Superb stuff
Gladiator starting on ITV 2 now.
Totti, Iâm surprised you are not watching Italian American Rocky Balboa win his first title on ITV4
Anyone watch Derek earlier? Once off Ricky Gervais thing. Horrific Part 1 but picked up in Part 2 and was actually rather touching.
Nothing compares to Gladiator. The movie is flawless.
When I first saw it I was a bit disappointed after it changed tac from the opening battle. The Germanic/ Celtic tribes were mad bastards and I wanted it to be a lot more about facing these crazy cunts.
âWhat we do in life, echoes in eternity.â
Maximus, like many great Roman tacticians before led his side to a convincing victory.
There was a comedy on BBC2 after the golf coverage on Sunday night called Twenty Twelve that I thought was quite good. Kind of an Office-style spoof about a committee organising preparations for the Olympics. I think itâs originally shown on Fridays.
The battle scene at the beginning in Gladiator is pretty shit. Probably the best battle scene in recent movie history is the Battle of Gaugamela in âAlexanderâ. Unfortunately the movie itself is fucking awful.
Thatâs a decent show alright. Thatâs the second (possibly even third) series of it on now.
Thatâs what separated them from the barbarians. The tribes were mental fuckers, fierce, head hunters who often arrived to battle naked. They had Fook all tactics tho and for all their bravery were more often than not defeated. The Germans inflicted a massive defeat on them alright which sent shock waves through the empire but until the fall of the empire and the siege of Rome by the Goths the Romans beat all.
I think the battle scene at the beginning of Enemy at the Gates is without peer.
The reenactment of the battle of Carthage shows Maximusâ true leadership skills and the respect and admiration he had from his comrades. Itâs no surprise Francesco Totti is often compared to the character of Maximus,
SPQR
Any Sergei Bondarchuk directed battle scenes are unbeatable though. There are several in War and Peace that dwarf anything that Hollywood had produced, and this one from Waterloo is particularly impressive.
Cicero.
Quintus is a treacherous cunt and I was disappointed he never got his comeuppance.
The best scene of movie history coming upâŚ
