What on earth was the point of that whole ambush scene with Ralph Fiennes? It made no contribution to the plot whatsoever.

There was no point what so ever to large parts of the film. There was no attempt at questioning what the fuck they were doing there either.

That’s the worst thing about it, it was presented as some thought provoking introspective on the nature of the American war in Iraq, when in reality it was just about a super cool soldier who likes defusing bombs and shit. If they were just honest about it and said that this was basically Delta Force 4 then that wouldn’t be a problem. A load of shit.
