I have eaten in one of these restaurants. The one in Vienna but they represent a type of restaurant that I am beginning to detest. Fetishized Michelin style dining consisting of extragantly expensive tasting menus made up of tiny things on odd plates, things that the chef often forages for free. They are populated then by a traveling band of Michelin tourists with giant carbon footprints traveling the world to eat sustainably sourced local food.

You’re some rarefied class of snob when you’re looking down your nose at the world’s best restaurants and their clientele

I had a lovely Chinese meal in Zambia before. You went into a mechanic’s garage and in the upstairs there was this relatively swanky restaurant

Would you think so. I find Chinese at home or abroad pretty similar. Mostly tampered with to cater for the local taste. Indian on the other hand is a completely different kettle of fish. Absolute shite in this country but a lot better abroad.
