Daycent spot. The lad who runs it is a bit of a header but the food is proper Italian. No spag bol on the menu there.
Always a good buzzy atmosphere there too
Cava Bodega on Middle St, if tapas suits. It’s another one of JP McMahon’s, the fella that @Spidey is referencing there that has Aniar as well. Can’t imagine you’ll have much trouble getting a table on a horrible night in January
O gradys on the pier at barna is nice.
Kirwans Lane is pretty good. Better than that if Keith, the head chef, is in.
O gradys at lunch for chowder and porter is hard bet
There was another place I got a spot in one night when I couldn’t get in anywhere else called Cookes that had grand unpretentious fare. I had a fine lamb shank.
I think you’re mistaking Kirwans Lane for some overpriced Dublin wankhole.
It is thoroughly unpretentious, has a well thought out simple menu, and good Guinness. Classic Mike o grady place really.
You’re pretty tetchy this evening @Flatty. We’ve established it’s Galway where you need to check your server’s identity. Last think I want is some unwashed crusty cunt deepfrying my scotch egg cos I go on the wrong day.
Thanks all. You were all very helpful. Beyond my expectations actually.
I like Italians for a group so I have booked Il Vicolo.
I’ll try and get to O’gradys for chowder and porter too.
I’ll post on the bars thread in due course for recommendations for afternoon drinking and for evening drinking. We’ll be in a male only group in the afternoon and a mixed group in the evening.
