Shaved ham?? FFS sake
I was in The Lucky Tortoise on Aungier st last night. It’s a pop up that stayed up and its absolutely tremendous. Dim Sum, dumplings , pancakey yokes with loads of dips. The “All In” which is a sample of everything on the menu is 20 euro per head and savage value. I honestly wasn’t 100% sure what I was eating half the time but that made the experience no less enjoyable. It’s cheap and cheerful with one red and white wine on the menu and one type of beer but I’d actually go back there tonight at the drop of a hat. @Fagan_ODowd, I’m guessing you would like this place.
A friend of mine is the chef in here. He used do 777. Seems to be doing really well very quickly. I don’t think they do home cooked fries though.
Tough time to open a restaurant.
Looks worth a trip.
In Dublin with missus in next few weeks. Need to book somewhere to eat now I’d say with the reduced capacity…
Thoughts on the following?
Sophies
Angelinas
Fade St social
Delahunt
Delahunt is excellent. Fade St decent enough. I’d say Sophie’s/Angelinas are more about the vibe than the food
Sophie’s - Press Up owned nice views over Dublin, food is ok, usually a bit of an atmosphere, ask for a booth but not sure if they will give it to you for two,
Angelinas - Another press up place I like it here, often a bit quieter than other places so you probably would get a booth here for two, food is again ok - like Sophie’s it’s sort of a drinks and food place with a bit of a buzz which for a weekend away is not a bad thing, not as central as Sophie’s. I’d prefer it to Sophie’s
Fade St Social - Dylan McGrafh place - two parts to this - restaurant and gastro bar - food in restaurant is very good - food in gastro bar is also good and a step up on Sophie’s And Angelinas - it’s small plates - you order lots of dishes - great spot if mixing a night out drinking and food but make sure as a couple you are not seated at the counter
Delahunt - more of a food place/traditional restaurant than first three places you suggested. Food very good.
Also look at Taste on George’s St - Dylan McGrath spot too food is excellent and has elements of the cocktail/drinks thing you may want
If you like Indian and cocktail vibe - look at Doolallly - it’s very good, food is good and it’s huge so social distancing not an issue. Press Up Group own that foo. If you like the look of Sophie’s/Angelinas - dinner cocktails/vibe place I’d look at Roberta’s its the best version of that restaurant that they do
Here we go
Top notch
Food was a 9/10…atmosphere the same… Service let it down slightly but I’d give them a pass in circumstances. Great spot
Glad it was a hit.
Been there 3 or 4 times and the service was very good. Hopefully just a one off rather than a trend because the food really is very good.
Yeah. I’d be a fan of Indian food anyway. Don’t think food is as good as Kinara or Amanda but the atmosphere is far better.
There was small little lamb burgers in the starter tasting plate that were as good as anything Iv eaten in a long time. It was like they had steamed the burgers for hours and then put bit of crust on with the grill… Onrale
If anyone is in West Cork any time soon make sure and swing off the main road and call to Long Strand in Castlefreke. There is a small resteraunt there called The Fish Basket. Fancy fish and chips… Had fish tacos and a sharing box there earlier with hake, cod, scampi and squid… And savage chips… Onrale
Lethal. You’ve ate well this weekend pal
I have. In kerry for a few days and drove around the long way to call here. Was here last year a few times it is fucking sensational. 38 quid for that with 4 bottles of water. The beach is lovely there but dangerous to swim at so it’s a grand place to go for a stroll
Lethal is right.
I had something similar in killybegs two weeks ago but didn’t look as good as that.
Any recommendations for Cork City gents?
There’s a fella who cooked for Emperor Hirohito who has the best restaurant in the country
