Top 10 Irish Restaurants (that spidey visited in a week )

Vincenzo’s in Limerick. Top quality grub and great service. Probably the best value meal I’ve had in years.

Looking forward to 1826 in Adare during the week.
Vicenzos is decent, was he there himself?

He was ya. The room is the only thing that lets the place down. If it was a better venue it would be a serious establishment.

Haven’t eaten in 1826 in a couple of years but it was top class on all previous occassions.

1826 in Adare is outrageously good. Everything was outstanding and it’s a lovely room with a laid back atmosphere, not in the least bit stuffy. Prices are quite decent as well, definitely merits a mention in this thread.
Here’s my duck main course, I couldn’t resist ordering a side of hand cut chips which were perfect. The open kitchen was interesting to observe from my seat. My scallops starter was tiny but amazing.

Had the tasting menu in Greenes in Cork a few weeks back. Superb. 8 courses, 7 of which were outrageously good. 58 quid so not very cheap but good value for quality of food. Potentially Michelin star quality in due course

4 pints of Beamish in Dan Lowerys across the road after to round it off

Was that the scallops served in the shell in a kinda bread crumb? It’s the nicest starter I’ve ever had.

It was indeed, three small enough scallops with an air dried ham and herb crumb, I’d have eaten 7 or 8 of them no bother. Fucking unreal (but tiny)

Was in the blue door a few nights ago. Not great. Have you been to the wild geese?

The blue door isn’t in the same league as the other two at all, fine for a fussy eater or the older tourists but price wise it’s about the same, they seem to do well with the tourists in the daytime.
The Wild geese is a lovely spot, we’ve been there for Sunday lunch a few times as they’re cool with kids during the day, I wouldn’t bring the kids into 1826.
1826 is a better restaurant than the Wild Geese though in my opinion, I think his cooking is good enough to chase a Michelin star if he wanted it.

Despite being more synonymous with karaoke, I had a delightful bento box lunch in Ukiyo on Exchequer St for ten lids. The haddock tempura was off the chain good.

Had a lovely meal in the M&L Chinese on Cathedral St on Saturday. Dry beef with a Hot and Spicy Taste And Soft Shell crabs in Egg Yolk. Great meal.

:frowning2: Had those soft shell crabs the night of the NFL league final (albeit after a feed of porter). Never been as sick the next day in all my life.

I was as right as rain after them.

One of my favourite casual dining spots in Dublin. Far superior to Yamamori and the lads who run it are A1.

Don’t think I ever had dry beef, what makes it “dry”

It’s burnt to a crisp

It’s not swimming in sauce.

It’s in a hot and spicy sauce. Dry aged right?

Soft shell crabs are unbelievable but I’d be slow to order them except in a top restaurant.
Ive heard M+L is a decent spot though.

I’ve taken to popping along to the Mespill Rd Lunchtime Market of a Thursday, a smashing selection of stalls and foods to choose from, and a lovely area to sit out and eat.
