I’ll throw one in for @glenshane while he’s out lambing
This is a thread for the 40 best Irish songs. The likes of Kilkenny, Laois, Westmeath and Longford wouldn’t have a song to make the top 400, never mind 40. It’s quality you want, not quantity
yerra fuck it there’s space here. I want an Irish song from all 32, I’d love a suprise. I thrown up the ones from Munster but if there are better ones from each county I’ll lave it off
The lads in Louth are fierce religious and it was often said that a trip to Dundalk inspired this song for the Luke and the boys
It’s widely accepted that this was written about the poor lads stuck in the German Nazi camps but it’s also accepted it ties in with what it was like growing up in Offaly at the same time
you’ve a job on with Kilkenny. I’ll give you that
Luke wrote this song about the brothels and whoring in inner city Dublin off the top of O’Connell St. What isn’t known is that it shares a name with a caravan park he went to as a child on the Brittas Bay side of Wicklow town
Legend has it Luke once attended a football match in Kilkenny and it provided the inspiration to this song but he had to make it about Dublin so people would care
And I was mistaken on Hand Me Down My Bible. That was written after he spent a weekend in Gormanstown in Meath.
This was the song he wrote after being in Dundalk
I think Carlow, Longford and Westmeath are all I’ve left @estebandaface - Luke thought they weren’t worth bothering with so he focused on the likes of Derry and other provinces.
fuck me boy you’re struggling…
where’s the northies and connies ?
It’s about a battle in Dublin you lunatic. It’s more spurious than the stuff I spent the last 20 mins making up
it was all about a battle in Dublin for fuck sake
Dublin and Meath and maybe Louth, the rest of Leinster was fucking useless.
Come on ye Westies and Nordies… lets hear ye
You’ll be claiming the Streets of New York as a Dublin song next as that’s where he flew out from
