I’m similar. I bought SYRO from my avatar this year. I thought it was decent. I heard a few songs from War on Drugs and wouldn’t be hugely interested. A bit Bruce Springsteen like for me.
I bought Caribou’s album as well and it is in the post on the way to me. Spotify my arse.

Why not spotify farmer?
I have listened to very little new music this year, and really this is the first time I’ve actually noticed it. Pretty disappointed with myself to be honest. I’d make a New Years Resolution to listen to newer stuff, but New Years Resolutions are for tards.
+1 I had been about to make a mouthy post asking how the “new” Arctic monkeys album could be left off the list until a checked and realised it was a 2013 album
Because I would rather have the physical CD.
And also pay something for the music (I know you pay for Spotify but fuck all).
But you’re probably not paying any more to the artist by doing it that way. Are you a big fan of the middlemen of the music industry?
A band I started to get into about 3 years ago but forgot to follow up… I won’t touch them now as every hipster about the gaff is all over them- the likes of @Phil Leotardo and co.
Caribou’s is decent farmer - fuck the physical format. It’s gone with the ages. Title track is a belter.
Future Islands LP was decent - Seasons is song of the year.
Seasons is a great song but I thought the rest of the album was very meh. War on Drugs is probably the best new album of the two I’ve listened to this year.
