Tottenham Hotspur, the Ryan Mason variant

That game where they were robbed against United last year would be an xG anomaly

That was the one where Man Utd were awarded a penalty after the full-time whistle wasnā€™t it?

The type of death spiral weā€™re in at the moment, he could be moving up a division going to Bournemouth next season.

Heā€™s lost his hunger. Kid that had a tough upbringing in a broken home, sometimes going hungry. Voracious appetite to get away from all that. Once heā€™s established himself at Spurs and moved from the peanuts to the big contract, seemed to lose the hunger overnight. He has his first dip in form over the last few months of Pochettinoā€™s tenure. With a steady guiding hand, it might just have been that, a temporary dip. Mourinho was disastrous for him too. Doubt heā€™ll get it back again.

Why are you overthinking this?

Iā€™d expect Brighton to finish well into the bottom half of the table by the time the dust settles. They had a kind enough start to the season, but they are going well to be fair to them. They have a bigger wage bill than 5 other clubs so should be finishing around 15th every season, itā€™s no great achievement to end up there and he hasnā€™t even managed that the last two years.

Thereā€™s not much evidence of any coaching from Nuno. The tactic yesterday from the off was to hoof the ball long and bypass midfield. It was like watching Dave Bassettā€™s Wimbledon in the 1980ā€™s. We just didnā€™t have a John Fashanu up front.

Wolverhampton Wanderers did finish 7th twice under Nuno. From what Iā€™ve been reading about his tenure there, it was all about ceding possession, retreating and launching counter attacks. They were bottom of the table in just about every metric like distance covered, possession, shots on target and so on. Much like Spurs are bottom of just about every metric over first 6 games. When Wolves dropped to 13th last season, they couldnā€™t show Nuno and his style the door quick enough.

Itā€™s even more turgid and dour than Mourinho. Chairman Levy was talking of a return to our attacking DNA after firing Mourinho and this is what Paratici has come up with after his managerial search. The brother is a season ticket holder at White Hart Lane. He was saying after they eeked out a fortuitous enough 1-0 win at home to Watford on the third game of season to go top of the table, there was serious grumbling amongst the support, veering towards mutiny about how awful the football was. If they lose at home to Aston Villa next Sunday, which I reckon thereā€™s very likelihood they will, could be outright mutiny.

Buff Egan could have done it in 10 seconds. With a whoā€™s in midfield?

Very similar to Martin Oā€™Neillā€™s cavalier tactics of playing without a midfield in the second half of the Denmark play off game.

I think the plan was to tire Ericsson out by letting him have too much ball.

Interesting statement last week from this Fonseca chap that looked like he was going to be manager for a while. Fonseca reckons that once Paratici came in as Director of Football, he scuppered that straight away as Fonseca was too attack minded. Instead Paratici went out and hired the most negative and defensive manager in the league in Nuno. Paratici does not have a good recent track record in hiring managers. In the two seasons prior to this he hired a new manager at Juventus. Both Sarri and Pirlo were shown the door after one season.

The alternative explanation is that Fonseca baulked at the offer when he didnā€™t get the same tax deductions he was accustomed to in Italy

Thatā€™s conjecture and speculation from some Finance guru from two months back as to why Fonseca as manager collapsed at the 11th hour. The piece I posted up refers to specific comments that the man himself Fonseca in the past few days that he was elbowed aside by Paratici at the last minute because Paratici didnā€™t want an attack minded manager.

Thought you felt Fonseca was a chump anyway?

I would have thought someone who didnā€™t cover himself in glory in Mickey Mouse serie A with one of the bigger clubs wouldnā€™t have met your requirements Dan?

A progressive attack minded manager like Graham Potter or Brendan Rodgers was the man for the job. Rodgers wasnā€™t moving in the summer but Iā€™d imagine Graham Potter could have been lured away from Brighton.

King Chump Levy has made some mess of Spuds.
