Tottenham Hotspur, the Ryan Mason variant

Coach Conte has always been out of his depth in European competition. We tried to warn the former Tyrone poster about this but he wouldnā€™t listen

A nasty enough article making jokes about his recent health problems. Serial winners go to spurs and donā€™t, or get sacked a few days before the cup final.

Myself and @backinatracksuit called it from Day 1, he was a completely wrong fit for Spurs. The Director of Football, Paratici should get the bullet as well. He probably has a lengthy ban from FIFA coming his way anyway for his role at Juventus during the latest scandal that they are embroiled in.

I saw one of the highlights last night was an attempted header by Harry Kane. A brilliant centre forward and a man usually good at making the most of his chances.
Last night the ball was crossed in and he went for a sort of diving header and the ball was about 6ā€ off the grass when it reached him. It was like something Phil Jones in his pomp would do.

Harry was more concerned with winning frees from what i saw. A great man to put his body between the defender and the ball and then wait to be assasinated.

Harry has a touch of the Cillian Oā€™Connors about him. Stat padding for personal glory, snide fucker and empty medal cabinet.

It pains me to say this but Gary Neville was correct about Conte.

Heā€™s a short term gun who quickly throws his toys out of the pram. He has a positive effect on teams early on because heā€™s a good basic tactical coach, but he then quickly demands everything be utterly perfect for him and he be treated like Little Lord Fauntleroy. Then when things are not perfect, because things can never be perfect, he throws a tantrum and slowly grinds his own teams down in year 2 before inevitably leaving.

And his European record is fucking dreadful.

A good coach, a bad manager.

Conteā€™s system is limited enough compared to someone like Arteta, but the players just arenā€™t there at Spurs.

Eriksen and Dembele in midfield, Rose and Walker at fullback have never been replaced.

Son doesnā€™t look the player he was and Kulusevski hasnā€™t gone on, Richarlison and Bissouma big disappointments. The two keepers are poor.

The wingback Porro looked a decent player at least.

Bentacur is a huge player for them. The only one who can pass the ball forward.

Milan are no good, but I doubt anybody couldve done better with this Spurs team. Theyā€™re fortunate to be in the Champions League with that squad. They have two real players.

Classic spursy

I dont think he ever got over Euro 2016. He poured everything into it and was a broken man after.

He won a League at Chelsea despite having no interest in being there.

The Qataris should buy Juventus and get Conte in

I think international management suited him perfectly. Heā€™s so intense and that can wear down a club team quickly. Tottenham seems a fairly miserable place to be at the moment.

If Mancini left after the Euros, I could see Conte winning the 2026 World Cup with Italy. Iā€™ve a feeling theyā€™re going to be a massive force at that if they have a good manager.

Italy were brilliant at Euro 2016. He had them drilled brilliantly.

This serial winner stuff in respect of Mourinho and Conte is just lazy chat. Itā€™s based on what was won by Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Internazionale and by Conte at Juventus, Chelsea and Internazionale. Youā€™re essentially talking there about clubs that were either the most financially dominant in their respective leagues or at worst the second most dominant. Same applies to Pep at Barcelona, Bayern and Citeh. Put Pep in charge of Everton or Aston Villa and lets see if heā€™s still ā€˜serial winningā€™.

Conteā€™s first three clubs in management in Italy were Arezzo, Bari and Atalanta. He was relegated at Arezzo and sacked at Bari when they were in the relegation places. Not much serial winning going on there. Heā€™s also only advanced past the last 16 of the European Cup on something like 1 occasions. Juventus under Allegri got to the European Cup Final right after Conte departed.

Mourinho didnā€™t tear up many trees at Old Trafford or currently at Roma who are 4th in Serie A, would be 5th only for Juventus points deduction and finished 6th last season.

Spurs under these ā€˜serial winnersā€™ were not the financially dominant club in the division which was the template for all their serial winning. Spurs are the 6th wealthiest club in the Premier League on just about every barometer and have been for some time. It was a good test of their managerial credentials when they didnā€™t have all those cards stacked in their favour. The type of test which saw Brian Clough win the League with an unfashionable provincial club like Nottingham Forest, first season after promotion or even more recently Ranieri at Leicester. At Spurs they would have had much better levels of financial backing than either Clough or Raneiri had and both failed miserably.

Weā€™ve punched above our weight, in nearly every season over the last decade or so, finishing above our station as the 6th wealthiest club. In the past 13 seasons, on 11 occasions weā€™ve finished 5th or higher and in 7 of those 13 seasons, weā€™ve finished in the Top 4.

For the first few years of Pochettinoā€™s tenure, we really punched above our weight. We might have came up short, but we had a decent cut at trying to win the English Premier League and the European Cup. We played good attacking, front foot football in the best traditions of Tottenham Hotspur and werenā€™t afraid to have a cut at anyone. Pochettino was a realist and knew the financial constraints that Spurs worked under and just got on with the job.

Conte from Day 1 has been an utter Misery Guts. Whinging and moaning that Spurs donā€™t have the level of financial muscle and limitless resources that Man U or the Oil Rich/Rogue State funded outfits like Chelsea and Citeh have. Heā€™s a slave to a particular system, canā€™t adapt, no Plan B and plays an awfully sterile and dour style of play and just generally exudes negativity and defeatism.

spurs

A good summation of Tottenham there. Poch did a very good job, Conte and Jose just not up to the task unfortunately.

Would you stop. Conte won leagues with three different teams. Mourinho won leagues in 4 different countries. He won a champions league with porto for fucks sake. He went to the nou camp with inter, to play the drug cheats and had a man sent off when busquets dived and still woalked all over the cunts. He won the treble with inter that year. Heā€™s even won a trophy with roma!
Youā€™ve won the magical thinking mental gymnastics world cup yourself there with that nonsense of a post. To think you spent your evening typing itā€¦

Iā€™ll repeat Conte and Mourinhoā€™s success were with the most financially dominant or second most financially dominant clubs in the respective counties.

Youā€™re a Paddy Footix who when choosing out of all of the 92 clubs in our English leagues to support, just happened to choose the wealthiest and most financially dominant club in England and possibly the world. That simple point is clearly lost on you.

These so called serial winners donā€™t seem to do so well when they donā€™t have that financial dominance that they can go out and buy any shiny toy that they want.
