Tottenham Hotspur, the Ryan Mason variant

Porto werenā€™t in the top 15 richest clubs in the CL the year they won it.
Inter probably werenā€™t in the top 10

Spurs need to go for someone who gets results and gets the media onside

Repeat all you like fella. Itā€™s nonsense. Strange emphasis on nationality there again from you. Youā€™ve styled yourself as the all knowing ENGLISH footix. This is about success in european football. Fellas who won leagues in different countries. What would an Englishman know about that? When was the last time an Englishman managed a team to win the league?

Spurs just need to recruit a manager who is the proper fit for the club. Conte and Mourinho were never that. Theyā€™re chequebook managers, who need financial dominance and an uneven playing field very much tipped in their favour to succeed. Quite apart from that, both are adherents of a dull, sterile, joyless style of football which is completely at odds with the best attacking traditions of Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs fans on here were flagging that from the outset as were pretty much all Spurs fans.

The elite coterie of monies super franchises Man U, Chelsea and Citeh and possibly Newcastle going forward simply dwarf everybody else financially so you have to recruit smartly.

Liverpool showed it can be done with Klopp though, with the right man at the helm. Spurs werenā€™t too far off with Pochettino. Pochettino isnā€™t in the same league as Klopp though. Spurs 2015-18 just didnā€™t have the financial clout to go out and spend the mega bucks on that 1 or 2 marquee players which could have made them a title winning side. Thatā€™s the template of managerial recruitment that needs to be reverted to.

@Lazarus has me very worried now about this Brennan Johnson character. I must confess, Iā€™d never heard of him until a few days ago.

Lingard starts today. Advantage Spuds

Doesnā€™t sound like Forest are up to much. Iā€™ll catch the highlights on Match of the Day tonight.

Just another typical Conte day. A 1-3 lead fucked away in the last 10 minutes down at the Dell against bottom of the table Southampton who equalise with an incorrectly awarded 92nd minute penalty. This fraud needs to be sacked pronto.

An utter fraud Conte. Going down to The Dell to bottom of the table Southampton, ceding possession to them and allowing them to play on the front foot. A slave to his caveman system that he doesnā€™t have the players to implement.

A fierce culture of blaming the manager amongst the Spurs support base when things go wrong. Fair play to Coach Conte for holding a mirror up to the Spurs ownership for accepting mediocrity and lacking ambition

Conte spoke a lot of sense there, I doubt theyā€™ll listen to a serial winner like him at a diddy club like spurs

Sure theyā€™ll get rid of him and chance another fella and the whole thing can start again

Donā€™t disagree with you, but it is about time someone called out the players. A lot of what he said is true, especially about the players not being able to take pressure.

Conte has been provided with serious financial backing over three transfer windows. Heā€™s spent the guts of a quarter of a billion in brining in the likes of Romero, Bentancur, Kulusewski, Richarlison, Bissouma, Perisic, Lenglet, Porro.

Heā€™s offloaded the likes of Winks, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Reguillon, Doherty, Rodon, Gil.

This is Conteā€™s team now.

Thereā€™s blame to be apportioned here fair enough, but by far the most excuses are coming from Conte. Thereā€™s almost universal agreement amongst Spurs fans that his style of football, dour, defensive, negative, low energy, tactically inflexible is the worst that we can ever remember. Heā€™s an absolute Misery Guts of an individual whoā€™s negativity and sourness just stinks the place out on every level. Not to mention bunking off on a sickie to Italy for weeks on end after a routine medical procedure that youā€™re ordinarily back on your feet after a day or two.

Conte has failed. Itā€™s clearly stinging him badly and heā€™s lashing out, deflecting and blaming everyone else but himself.

Conte has held a mirror up to spurs, they wonā€™t thank him for it
