Just catching up on the sports news of the day, now. That sounded like about as dismal an afternoon as you could get from a Tottenham Hotspur perspective. Glad now I was out and about and missed that. I reckon Iāll give Match of the Day a skip later as well.
Iād be interested to hear the views of an astute soccer observer like @Bandage as to how Coach Frank acquitted himself today and whether there were any glimmers of hope. Thatās if he was watching of course. Granted, nearly all our players are rubbish and weāll be doing well to finish in the top half of the table but @Bandage did flag it from the outset that Coach Frank wouldnāt be up to the task.
I wouldnāt have any interest in watching that bloated EPL soap opera nonsense these days unless there was Irish interest or I was really stuck for something to do. I caught the denouement at Pittodrie this afternoon before we put up the Christmas tree but I didnāt have any inclination to watch Spurs long throwing their way through a derby.
That sounds like a lovely family orientated Sunday. I had a really nice Sunday as well and was relieved to miss what sounded like a Tottenham Hotspur horror show. Probably the most chastening defeat in the fixture since the very first one that I attended as a young chap, the 0-5 home defeat over Christmas 1978. Liam Brady scored a cracker that day, that was the first goal on the BBC 101 Great Goals video.
Spurs were wretched today. Arsenal coasted it.

This XG thing was another shocker for us today. Essentially we have delivered 3 of the most hopeless attacking performances of any club in the league this season against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Woolwich. Coach Frank seems like a grand gentlemanly kind of fellow but questions are already getting asked. My brother was in the away end today. It is accepted that the team he inherited is utterly hopeless and compounded by the fact we have been missing Kulusevski, Maddison and Solanke all season. He was saying the feeling amongst the knowledgeable away day match support is that Coach Frank is a rabbit caught in headlights following the step up to a big club and is out of his depth.

They were just so passive in everything they did yesterday. Itās like they were resigned to defeat from the kickoff.
Frank is definitely missing the few players who are injured but the team taking the pitch shouldnāt be a push over like that.
I didnāt see the game yesterday but I did see the Chelsea game at home a few weeks ago and they were shocking that night as well and completely passive. There are the extenuating circumstance of a squad that is largely rubbish and missing three of the only half decent attacking players we have all season. A team does to a certain extent play in the image of their manager so the lack of any fire is a real concern.
To be fair I think London derbies cost Arsenal the league title 2 years ago. Very costly defeats to Fulham and West Ham and a draw with Angeās Spurs team. Yanited have rarely troubled City in a game of significance in the title race. Iāve been rooting for them often enough over recent years to do Liverpool a turn and it never happens.
Could the Northern Ireland lad Shea Charles do a job in the middle for Liverpool? Strong lad and well able to play. City Academy. Or Spurs for that matter.
Hadnāt heard of him before now but Iād say as bad as things are, he wouldnāt get into a team ahead of Gravenberch, MacCallister, Szoboslai or even Curtis Jones.

A much more encouraging performance against the champions of Europe tonight in Paris, even if it did end in a 5-3 defeat after leading twice. Gray, Sarr and Bergvall all started which made a big difference.
Coach Frank needs to maintain that positive mindset going forward.
