Dan Martin leading the pace in the breakaway group, quite a few getting shed now. Cavendish been dropped from the peloton, will be a long day in the saddle for him trying to stay within the time limit.
Martin has put in a stinging attack and obliterated this breakaway group. Only two can stay with him
Martin has dropped everyone bar Kesiakoff and Ten Dam now.
Voeckler is doing a great job here closing the gap to the front three slowly but surely
Voeckler, Hincapie, Feillu join Martin, Kessiakoff & Ten Dam.
They’ve knocked off as KA Sorenson & 2 Euskaltel riders also bridge the gap.
And Voigt & Vinokourov & Kiryenka also back on.
Just home now. Good to hear Martin is going well. Looks hot which won’t please Wiggins but better than the rain I suppose which would have benefited Nibali.
It’s a long time since we had an Irish rider capable of mixing it in the mountains. Good to see Martin heavily involved.
Szmyd dropped early, he’s had a shocking tour, bad news for Nibali. Sherwen said there is 16 riders now in the Martin group.

Kessiakoff has come right back up to him, very impressive. Martin looks very strong today. Scarponi cracked down the road.

I think even if Martin is fully recovered from illness it was going to be hard for him as legs won’t be used to such effort.
He’s in no mans land now, he should be able to tag onto the Kessiakoff group if they come up to him.

Martin got 16 points in 3rd, so that’s 26 for him so far today.
Hopefully Martin can get back up to Voeckler on the descent, they are 10 minutes ahead of the peloton now and look to have the stage between them.
Sky looking supremely comfortable, even Boasen Hagen is still there. Somebody has to attack them early on the next climb ffs.
