Have we any on board? I know we’ve a few flute players, but can anyone play the tin whistle? I’ve just purchased one.
Good luck with that. A fabulous instrument. It reaches the Celtic soul.

We’ve been taxed with a very small burden. Just doing my bit and hopefully something I can pass on or enjoy with kids down the road.
Will you play it at the wedding?
I’m learning from scratch, kid…I’ll barely be able to play twinkle twinkle by then.
Where are you learning?
With my mouth mainly.
It’s a cunt of an instrument mate, grand for kids but they nearly all learn it in school now so it would be like teaching them long division. If you have a bit of time on your hands and the wherewithal to persevere you could learn banjo or mandolin or something.
I can play turn on the sun.
Tommy Peoples gone to the great dancehall in the sky
Poor Tommy. A gentle soul.
Lived down this way for many years, married into the Kilfenora Ceili Band as such.
Don’t make men like Tommy he had a way with him , he was quite and warm and cane alive playing music could play any tune within a few moments of listening to it , I was at a huge 24 hour session with him in Corofin may moons ago , we had a yank in the company and he asked Tommy to play something classical so he played Yankee Doodle Dandy , the whole place laughed themselves sober
He’s was cracking fiddler
I look forward to the eulogy including a few made up scenarios from our own resident (pretend) fiddler
The first Bothy band album with him playing is a stunning work.
that hurts to hear.
an absolute colossus. a complicated individual, but an exceptional talent. those that aren’t into dye diddley dee probably wouldn’t appreciate his genius, but he was just that, a genius of a musician. Had that rare combo of technical skill and the ability to pour pure heartfelt emotion into his playing
