Got to go to Beaumont chief.
50 minutes door to door. Fuckall traffic out
Those that can wfh still doing their bit in the national interest. An incredible sacrifice.
It’s terrific to see mate. Essential travel only.
50 minutes back (49 actually). Roads are very quiet mate. It would be great to see a reduction in traffic long term. We could all do our bit cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy
Reality check this morning in the capital after the summer break
Traffic is getting back to pre pandemic levels. Lot of people must be back in the office.
Pre the introduction of the 90 minute fare the recovery in public transport was well below pre Pandemic levels. That introduction has brought us back up but still below car levels which are at 90%.
Whilst I’d say a lot of people are back in their place of work, I think just as big a contributor are the WFHers who drop the kid to school and then go back home to work. There’s plenty of Little Johnnies who would have got used to being chauffeured to school during the pandemic.
Yeah that’s very true. I was traffic myself today doing school run before returning to WFH.
Flesh this out for me. Kids used to walk to school but now their parents drive them because they work from home? Not sure i see why this woild be the case at all. Petrol way up. Unless its pissing rain, i see no reason why kids would suddenly be dropped to school. Traffic was aleays way up ariund school run.
Limerick city is sick the last few weeks, I’m glad of my couch
Because previously parents would be going to the office and would either leave earlier for the school run earlier or the kid would make their own way.
A habit of Covid (with reduced PT) was dropping your kid to school and going back to WFH. Many still WFH and won’t ditch that habit.
All a guess.
Yeah I’m one of those. I never did school run before Covid. Now I do it regularly. Chance to play music and chat with whoever I have with me. I’d miss it now if I couldn’t do it.
Jayses back with a bang. You’d forget all about it during the summer
Zip it cager
Wait until you see the coal I’m after sorting for the winter. The neighbours will need gas masks but I’ll be cosy out so I will
I was traffic this morning. It was horrendous. About 65 mins to go what might be 25mins another day
I drove from Drumcondra to rathfarnham at 8am the other morning in less than 30 mins I couldn’t believe it…sat nav brought me down aungier st, over river, up Westland row and through merrion sq and out through ranelagh, miltown, churchtown…
I thought it would take me twice that
Hmmmm something not adding up here… aungier st?
