The AFL final often isn’t the most watched sports event in Australia. I’d also say as a % of population more watch an All-Ireland football final than the AFL final.
We need to work off the audited figures here guys. This is a place of science not speculation.

We are back at point 1, most people prefer bbc and itv for football games as ronnie whelan and sadlier are off-putting

Not correct, the RWC is a long-standing ITV fixture. Many of the production staff from the BBC moved over once ITV got the lions share of the rights.
Don’t forget that Brian O’Driscoll is also on ITV that is a huge draw. Same with Roy Keane for football, though I accept that ITV rarely show the ROI side.
There’s just a different, more broad and nuanced, culture. It’s hard for lads who grew up with basically only having 2RN to understand.

For the first 30 years of RTEs existence there were more live rugby matches on the telly than Gaelic football matches

Shearer a guy that is a record scorer in the epl and played at numerous world cups or a dude that played for millwall reserves?
If an Ulster team is in it then may be.
From next year I believe it will be.
Do they show all his goals as part of the production? Sure Didi Hamann is a far more decorated footballer than him anyway.

Because the BBC would have been covering the production costs.
Historically this country has completely prejudiced against rugby and football. Despite this they still level up and beat the GGA for ratings, and that’s aside from the BBC and ITV ratings that are unavailable.
Tim is imagining hundreds of thousands of lads on the east coast twiddling with their tellies.

It’s difficult for people from outside of Dublin to get this. A lot of people barely watched RTÉ. Just more options and culture.
I always said that the National Broadband Plan was the nail in the coffin for the GGA.
