Tv Shows & Mini Series (Part 1)

HMV have a 5 for €10 going on all DVD and blu Ray until they close on Monday. This includes box sets. Picked up a good few films on blu ray and some tv series’s, some on DVD, others on blu ray. Don’t have Sky Atlantic and don’t download so a good opportunity to give shows a whirl for €2 a pop. Picked up:
Show Me a Hero (first episode watched. Thought it was very good)
Vinyl
True detective 2 (know it caught fairly middling reviews)
Veep season 2 (loved the first season)
Silicon Valley season 1 (based on the clips and talk here, I picked it up. Watched first few episodes and really enjoyed)

I started that stranger things anyway. It’s grand like, nothing amazing. Some amount of lax parenting in it :joy: the cunts are phoning it in.

Does every kid in America have a basement with it’s own entrance that the parents never go into?

Was in there yesterday nothing but shit left, disaster the place is closing AGAIN! couldn’t even make it to Christmas this time.

Surprised people still buy DVDs TBH!

Show me a hero is fucking brilliant. Didnt get half the recognition it deserved IMO.

Mr. Robot is very disappointing.

I haven’t started season 2 yet. Should I just leave it untainted in my memory?

I’m 4 episodes in. I will keep going. Just in the hope that it changes. Its not like i’m dying to see the next one.

Its hard to explain without giving away too much.

I’m a Luddite tbh. Still buy records, go to the cinema and even rent DVDs.

I was in there earlier. I got five DVDs for a tenner. One was season one of the Knick (only got it cos I hadn’t seen it and its normal worth is €40). Also got Being AP (they can’t give these away), I got the Alien boxset (four films), I got some ‘Irish favorites’ boxset which includes the Field and My Left Foot plus something else. I also got one other DVD but the name escapes me. Actually now that I’m writing this I recall that I already have My left foot at home. Anyway I’d have paid a tenner just for the Field on DVD so considering I got all that other stuff too I did well I think.

As an aside the smell of B.O. in there was overwhelming. There were lots of tinkers walking around as well adding to the aroma in the air. There were fellas with 30, 40 DVDs in baskets, no joke. Some fella, a customer, got hold of a few cardboard boxes of DVDs that weren’t on the shelves and just started ripping the tape off and rummaging through the boxes like his life depended on it with beads of sweat rolling down his face. A few more vultures started circling round him and it was at this point I proceeded to the cash register. It was like a scene from the Walking Dead where the zombies slowly realise there is a meal and they all start being drawn to it like flies to shit.

Finished this at the weekend :unamused:

It was grand. Some good things but overall - 6/10.

Some of it was brilliant, I’m not a fan of supernatural shit, but I got over that. The fucking ending though

It’s a cliffhanger pal, season 2 is in the pipeline.Narcos season 2 is all I want now and I’m watching The get down which is surprisingly good!

It’s a licence to milk the shit out of it.

Much like Homeland which should have been a one seasoner, as well as True Detective, sadly economics comes into play and all bets are off. But it was outstanding entertainment and delicious nostalgia. What happens from here, is anyones guess.

Poor Barb :disappointed_relieved:
