Just finished Westworld. What a cracking finale, 10/10.
Watched all 10 episodes on Sky Atlantic…brilliant TV.
Anthony Hopkins was made for that role.
Has anyone watched this Dirk Gently thing on Netflix? Amusing if bonkers
I watched Generation War instead of watching Westworld, guys. Thought Generation War was very enjoyable if not groundbreaking. I was looking forward to watching it each night so they must have done something right.
I’m five episodes through Westworld at the moment, it’s been very slow to develop and I’ve found those developments to be a litttle repetitive so far but hopefully will pick up in the second half.
It ends very cleverly I thought myself. I was a bit sick of it coming up to the last few episodes but it really speeds up then
There’s huge amounts of exposition doled out in Westworld, and you either make your peace with that or you don’t. Thankfully its generally done by Anthony Hopkins, so that makes it far more palatable. Maybe I mentioned it here already, but I read that one of the main actors called the show a prequel, and I can kinda see how thats the case. Season 2 will be a vastly different animal.
I don’t think it’s worth watching for the ‘big moments’ if the core idea doesn’t intrigue you. I thought some parts of it dragged but the Park itself is a such a cool idea that I watched it for that.
While the acting was generally top notch I thought they could have done better than Thandie Newton for that role. Maybe it was the character but I thought she was a bit one-dimensional. Evan Rachel Wood was on a different level entirely.
She was a robot mate.
Yeah but she’s also leading the overthrow of human civilisation.
Yeah but she’s also leading the overthrow of human civilisation.
Shes only doing what shes told.
watched the first three episodes. Its pretty good. I’m still undecided whether or not Dirk gently is a comic genius or just an annoying cunt though. Have you seen utopia. Very similar vibes in parts which is not a bad thing.
Really, I thought Newton was perfect
The more I think about it the more I think it’s the best and most satisfying final episode to a show that I’ve seen. Worth staying with IMO.
The core idea of the show is indeed fascinating and I’m a patient viewer but the direction of travel has been there from the first or second episode. The last three have just been a very slow development of that.
I’m aware the finale has gotten rave reviews so I will be sticking with it regardless.
Generation War was also a great show.
Westworld will no doubt be back for a second series but not sure it should be. Story arc seemed complete right there.
I’m only two episodes in, there’s some vague plot structure taking hold but I expect you’ll have to take the leaps in narrative as part of it. I think I saw the odd bit of Utopia but can’t really remember what it was about tbh.
Agree. I presumed it was done.
Reports say season 2 is a prequel
