From what I saw he was more beneficial overall for Meath, though that doesn’t mean he didn’t benefit Tyrone on a couple of occasions when he shouldn’t have. He’s just not a very good ref.
Tiernan McCann can have no complaints whatsoever about his sending off - that incident would lead one to think morale isn’t especially high within the Tyrone camp at the moment.
In some ways though they needed to come through a match like that just to remind themselves that they can actually win close matches.
But they could definitely do with a handy draw in Round 2, especially after playing extra time today. They’re lucky there’s a two week break after this.
It was an off the ball, behind the play elbow on a Meath player as Tyrone were coming forward at one point down after 67 minutes or so. The corner of the camera caught it.
That’s the exact time you need to keep your discipline and he couldn’t.
It’s a red card but there wasn’t much in it. You see the Dubs do stuff like that when games are in the melting pot too. Sometimes you get away with them, others you don’t.
We were much better against Monaghan. If he had shown the same efficiency in front of goal as the Monaghan game then we’d have been out of sight at half time.
All that matters at this stage is wins. The qualifiers are a path filled with trouble.
But aren’t Monaghan shit? At least that’s what you were telling us before the Monaghan game when you pointed out how Monaghan lost to Down last year and Longford the year before. Monaghan lost to Fermanagh last Sunday with the Monaghan full back top scoring from play.
