You’re as entitled to your opinion as I’m entitled to mine. I’d rate Tyrone 3rd in Ulster behind Donegal and Monaghan currently.
My opinion is grounded in logic. Yours is grounded in the same subjectivity that saw you get it badly wrong on the state of play in Ulster.
Tyrone have beaten nobody of note outside of ulster since 2014. Not one team.
My logic is that Donegal got within five points of Dublin.
Tyrone were lucky to beat Meath.
Tyrone are a top 4 side. Since 2014, they’ve played Mayo once, Kerry once and Dublin once. They lost narrowly to Mayo and Kerry in close games. Mayo are finished, Kerry are now in transition so a gap has opened. Tyrone are not really any worse than last year so I think you could make a solid argument for them jumping ahead of them.
We don’t know much about the group of the chasing 6. I just know I find it hard to see one of them toppling Dublin in a knockout game.
Dublin could have won by whatever they wanted. From what I’ve heard, Donegal never threatened winning.
The top 4 is your imagination. There’s been a top 1 and then Mayo/kerry a good bit behind. After that there’s 5 or 6 teams of a similar level. Including Tyrone/donegal/Monaghan etc. You can’t mention Tyrone in the same breadth as Those top sides until they actually beat one of them.
Dublin were afraid to attack and leave gaps for Donegal to attack.
Did you not watch it?
I dont know about Dublin being afraid to attack. They should have had at least 5 goals and another 8 points. Dublin were complacent in the game against Donegal. This week will be a test for them in Omagh but only because it is in Omagh. If it was anywhere else Dublin will beat Tyrone pulling up.
Tyrone have been less than impressive beaten by Monaghan, just about survived against Meath, only beat Cavan by 3 points and they dont know where the opposition goal is. They gave hammerings Carlow, Cork and Roscommon but lets face it those 2 of those teams are shite and other has only gone its act together for the first time in a 100 years. Based on that how can you say they are any better than the other 6 teams in the super 8’s?
Galway have beaten both Mayo and Kerry in this year’s Championship. Galway have actually beaten Mayo three years running. Galway ran Dublin very close in this year’s league final.
Tyrone haven’t beaten any of Mayo, Kerry or Dublin in the Championship since 2008.
Galway have more impressive formlines than Tyrone currently and would have to be ranked ahead of them.
I know you didn’t but you said Dublin were afraid to attack.
I was only responding to the second part that I included in the quote.
Dublin didn’t score for an 11 minute period towards the end of the game. They were very cagey in their attacks and took no chances that could have resulted in losing possession and allowing Donegal to hit them on the break, as they had been doing effectively.
It was smart play to get them over the line on the first game of the Super 8s. Patton made some nice saves and at the other end Jamie Brennan should have stuck a goal in the net as well.
I’d like to congratulate Tyrone on their achievement of being a Top 4 side. They are the Gaelic Football equivalent of Arsenal, with the manager to go along.
Hilarious.
Why did Donegal have such a cakewalk so?
That doesn’t count as it doesn’t suit his argument this time.
Because Tyrone and Monaghan fell. Both are in the Super 8s now. Both got off to winning starts in the Super 8s.
Are you now saying there is only 2 other counties in Ulster capable of giving Donegal a game?
And beat the might of Carlow, Meath, the worst ever Cork team, Cavan, Waterford, Leitrim and Laois to get there.
