U2 - Croke Park 2009

Unconfirmed dates of 29th, 30th and 31st May.

Apparently, most Dublin hotel prices have already been hugely increased for those dates even though nothing’s officially been confirmed.

Anyone who thinks bandwagonism in Ireland is only confined to sporting events need only wait and see some of the geebags who’ll be falling over themselves to get tickets for these gigs if they’re announced in the near future.

Unofficially, I have a good mate who works with a band members sister. I could probably get a TFK exclusive if I cared enough

What band Mac?

Unofficially? As in there is an official alternative?

wouldnt cross the road to see them

slane would have been better

I hate this band with a passion. Useless bastards.

Fantastic Ambassadors for Ireland

why does nearly everyone on this site hate u2? whats wrong with yez

Hate U2 a good 10 years now and Bono’s pathetic posturing is a pain in the hole.

They were a fair enough post punk band back in the day but their race is run, they should give up now. Certainly they should stop recording new material.

Don’t really hate them but ill echo SS’s sentiments regarding bono and the early stuff.

Their new stuff is complete and absolute tripe

Brilliant band but past it now alright.

Saw them live at PopMart(2nd gig) in 97 and Slane (2nd gig) in 01. Slane was one of the best days ever. Went to the Ireland-Holland game at Lansdowne where McAteer scored then got a lift up to Slane. I’d drunk about 6 cans of Druids cider by the time I got to Slane so I was fairly merry by then.

Got in about half an hour before U2 came on and was inside the gate about 2 minutes when I saw Shay Given so I drunkenly went over and started the usual drunken waffle - “Shay ya legend” etc. I’m sure I came across as a drunken muppet but he took it well. Gig was class then went playing pool and drinking all night in a house a couple of miles down the road that some lads had rented out for the night. Slept in a car for a few hours.

When I was getting a lift into Dublin the next morning we got stuck in a monster traffic jam outside Dunshaughlin (full of Meath fans going to their 15 point demolition of Kerry) and myself and another lad had to get out and puke on the side of the road in front of everybody. It’s bad enough puking on the side of the road without a load of Meah fans honking their horns at you while doing it!

Didn’t get a ticket for 05 but myself and two other lads climbed up onto the railway line near the Hill 16 goal and drank a load of cans and got pissed while the gig on the Monday was on. We could half see some of the screen and could hear the whole thing clearly. There were a couple of Irish Rail lads on the line but they were sound enough about us being up there. I’ve had worse nights than drinking cans on the railway and having U2 playing in the background.

U2 could never be considered useless but I never took to them. Since Beautiful Day the band have become cringeworthy.

Juhniallio - any comments on my opinion?

Clown.
