The late poster @Sidney coincidentally had a very similar experience to myself. It might even have been the same gentleman that let each of us in.
@Sidney even gave Finn McRagebait the idea for her article.
It’s nothing personal or inherent against Arsenal.
It’s just that their current brand of football is an utter obscenity.
I recall Walter Smith’s Rangers anti-footballing their way to the 2008 UEFA Cup final. That was hateful too. On Wednesday May 14th, 2008, I was doing the final exam for a bullshit one year part time evening course at a fake college in Aungier Street. It was a very sunny day and a good few of us, ie the whole class, went drinking afterwards. We got sunburnt drinking cans outside the Pav. Then by 7:45pm and the kick off of Rangers v Zenit Leningrad in the UEFA Cup final, we were still drinking, in McDaids. I don’t think McDaids had a telly and I had to keep nipping, or stumbling across through increasingly drunken hazes to Bruxelles to see the score in the football. With about 70 minutes gone and the score at 0-0 a few of us migrated across to the upstairs bar in Bruxelles, and within a few minutes the Russians scored and the place went mad. They scored again late on as I viewed through an increasing haze. Later on the Fenian chants started. There were implorations for Nacho Novo to die in his sleep, which we didn’t really mean. The bastards had got their comeuppance.
I never saw any of those people ever again after that night.
But regarding Rangers, you would have had a grudging admiration. The SPL was a financial backwater. Rangers had been consistently unsuccessful in Europe for years. You UNDERSTOOD why Rangers would try to anti-fooball their way to European glory. You respected Walter Smith as a great football man. The following morning Walter Smith went to Celtic Park to pay his respects to Tommy Burns. And he meant it. That was the measure of the man.
Arsenal are the Bank Of England club. A filthy rich institution in the most fashionable area of Europe’s most fashionable city in Europe’s richest league.
And they choose to play like that. It isn’t shit on a stick, it’s an entire sewage treatment plant on a stick. And the sewage treatment plant is broken down. It’s a fetid, noxious, poisonous, sewage plant on a stick.
And former Rangers and Everton man Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are the apex of the culture of empty corporate communication that has taken over our lives. Motivational memes. Inspirational quotes. Pickpocketing games. Zionist YouTubers producing officially approved club CONTENT. Toe curlingly awful “anthems”.
I’d support Walter Smith’s Rangers if they were playing former Rangers man Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, in a fucking heartbeat.
