Like the Brian Boru, its days are numbered. Construction has started again on the new Valencia stadium after a gap of what must be at least 14 years.

I was lucky enough to be inside it once and at an all night street party beside it another time.

Maybe my favourite stadium on Earth, possibly in a tie with St. Tiernach’s Park in Clones.

There was some atmosphere tonight. But the Spanish are great home supporters. Underrated actually, up there with the Dutch.

I don’t recall Spain playing many games in Valencia since Gerry Armstrong humiliated them.

My sense of the Spanish is outside of Seville which will always be the home of the Spanish national team they’re not great supporters.

Spain 2 Ireland 0 in November 1988 is the definition of an intimidating atmosphere which makes the away team capitulate.

We returned the favour five months later. Included in one of the match programme for an Ireland game of that period (they used to be sold in newsagents) was a mention of France Football’s ranking of the world’s most atmospheric stadiums. Anfield ranked number one. Lansdowne Road reached the heacdy heights of number 20 on this list.

We used to be a proper country, when we were shit.

Any of the games I’ve seen them in groups and that they seem vociforous. Watching that tonight, I kept wishing I was there.

I didn’t see the game tonight but it’s an incredible stadium. The third tier was added in the early 90s I think. It probably wasn’t as good in 1982. It was probably at its best when Valencia were going well in Europe under Hector Cuper, specifically the semi-finals against Barcelona in 2000 and Leeds in 2001.

From all the pictures I’ve seen from fan views, I’m surprised there’s not more of this.

Germany-Portugal kicking off now

Slightly more familiar Portuguese team

Germany look very Nazi with those black socks.

Particularly the number 6 on this near side.

I know every single thing about Liverpool is relentlessly positive but I wonder is this wirtz lad worthz a club record fee?

That wasn’t good. Only other time I saw him was the Europa League final last year and this was similar. Sane looks the best attacker out there.

He’s kind of a waterier martin odergaard

Brian Kerr’s pronunciation of ā€œNetoā€ is magnificent.

Liverpool have a great record of signing midfielders from the Bundesliga. Naby Keita (lad) currently of Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros for instance. Thiago Alcantara. So I wouldn’t be a tall worried.

Net Toe is it?

You can’t really adequately write the salty Dub pronunciation of names like Neto and Mata.
