Any idea why they have been boycotting the national team for the last forty years?
Admins??
Kosovo would likely agree to play in Israel if given the choice I’d imagine. They have an embassy in Jerusalem.
Austria could be guilted into it too, considering how one prominent Austrian handled relations with Jews in the 40s.
We likely won’t go to Israel and I could even see our home game being played in a neutral venue also.
Fai sold the season tickets on the basis of so many games.
A bit of a mess for them to go handing back money.
If IsraHell play in Dublin, the nordie loyalists and Rory Cowan will go and cheer them on.
If we go to Israel will it be as controversial as the time the rugby team went to South Africa?
If FAI suits feel strong enough to seek their expulsion, surely they shouldn’t be willing to play them.
I remember coming home on a ferry from Glasgow around 02 or 03 and there was a group of fans from some other club on it too. I think there’d been some issue at the time with players refusing to play in European match in Israel and they had a catchy little chant that went something like:
"Which little bastard wouldn’t go, wouldn’t go to Israel.
Graham Le Saux, he wouldn’t go, he wouldn’t go to Israel "
You’d be into huge can of worms territory then.
Ireland are hosting the next euros, which Israel could very easily qualify for. If we don’t host Israel now could UEFA take that tournament from us? Financially that would be a disaster for the FAI.
Would be very interesting to see a few posters opinions on this if it was a rugby game as opposed to soccer.
I can only imagine the mental gymnastics.
Meh, been there done that
The obvious solution here is to bring the Israelis over and cover the aviva in pictures of their war crimes
Maybe like when the Irish rugby team went and supported apartheid?
Brian Kerr saying it like it is. His pronunciation of the word ‘radio’ is tremendous too.
All Michael Martin will ever do is sit on a fence.
“We’ll wait for the review” should be on his gravestone
He never gets it wrong when it comes to important issues in football like this. Lads take him for a fool.
He’s a mighty man.
He gave the “ bar-dell-er” shaquiri some doing .
