Thereās an islamic high school for girls opened round the corner and I see all the kids getting dropped off and going in. Iād have been happy for ours to go to it tbh though Iād have counselled them off the organised religion bit. The girls all seem happy and polite and jabber away on their phones. And then you get dicks like Tommy Robinson dog whistling. For the most part, people are decent and rub along happily.
Personally Iād ban single faith schools, well actually Iād just refuse them any state support, because you should ban as little as possible, but the students there look more like a solution than a problem to me.
The influx of Hong Kong people has been brilliant. It really needs to reinstate freedom of movement with the EU, and it would be better again.
For the most part, you can find a competent person to give you a fair price on a decent job, and people here are quite stoical which I like. I also like the fact that different places are properly different.
I have the great good fortune to live in a nice place, and to work in a nice place, and thereās tens of millions who donāt, but generally, more works here than doesnāt.
It is a lot poorer than Ireland these days. Itās palpable. But it produces elite level scientists and engineers and architects and legal and financial minds. Just doesnāt do enough to promote and maintain them, and the school system is pretty shameful in many ways, underfunded. They throw money at the people who vote.
Thatās always been my experience of Britain too. They have always produced brilliant artists too. Their arguably the best at Music, literature and comedy.
