Uk Affairs - Sterling is taking a Pounding

It was daft

Sturgeon will bide her time for the next year and a half and then sheā€™ll be off to Westminster where she can be more effective.

Always thought she had less credibility by not going to London.

I donā€™t know why you think that. The rules are you canā€™t be both First Minister of Scotland and an MP simultaneously. You can only do one at a time.

Itā€™s not as if the SNP donā€™t sit in Westminster at all like Sinn Fein.

If Sturgeon goes to Westminster after the next election, she will be a very big dog with a huge influence because sheā€™ll likely hold the balance of power, and the minimum price of propping up a Labour government will be another referendum.

Is she going back to playing Jimmy Krankie?

Sheā€™s done. Labour will pick up a few seats in Scotchland next time. If they forget about Islington for a while.

Sturgeon is as poisonous and nasty a piece of work as any in the conservative party. She should have faced criminal charges for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

How do you come to that conclusion? All the polls indicate that labour will romp home

I wouldnā€™t be too sure about that. I expect them to lead a government after the next election but whether they get a majority is another thing entirely.

If they had a pr system, iā€™d agree with you. A lot less likely with fptp

The other way around, no?

No. Better chance of gorming a coalition under pr

To go from 200 seats to 326 is still a big ask.

I get you now. The overall majority is in theory way easier under fptp. Thatā€™s what I thought you were talking about

Not if they win by 20%+ which seems likely at this stage

The conservatives got an 80 seat majority with 43% of the vote last time out.

Blair only won by 12.5% and got a massive majority but I suspect Labour will find it hard to win more than about 15 Scottish seats next time.

I also wouldnā€™t be that surprised if the margin is closer than people think as Labour wonā€™t have Murdoch behind them this time and the right wing culture war bullshit will really stoke up ahead of the election.

The Tories will be obliterated in ā€˜safeā€™ Blue wall seats in the shires.

They may or may not be.

Rishi Sunak may or may not be their leader at the next election.

Sure labour have only one seat in Scitchland out of 59. With the SNP in disarray and their failures highlighted Labour will clean up.
