Some UKIP candidate in Cumbria on Newsnight just now:

Plenty of UKIP voters are former Labour ones as well.
Because they have nothing else to offer. And most of their candidates are batshit crazy. Farage just wants a peerage or a knighthood at this stage.
The PM has taken a hard line Brexit approach so what can they really do at the minute? They could get relevant again if May concedes a lot in the negotiations on immigration.
They are a one issue party and they’ve the issue solved. Farage should have dissolved the party after the win. He walked away himself because he knew what was coming
