Doesn’t work like that. Now I consider Tony Blair to be problematic in several ways, but one thing he had spot on was that he was willing to stand up, articulate a particular vision, defend it, and tell members of the ordinary public why he was right and they were wrong, at least as he saw it. It was a masterclass in political selling.
The Tories are masters at it. I hate their guts, and everybody should, but they’re experts at branding, and being unapologetic about what they stand for. They aren’t about listening to people. They’re experts at fooling people into thinking they’re being listened to.

Starmer has decided to make a bad few days for Labour much worse by starting a civil war within the party, sacking Angela Rayner as party chair after previously saying he took full responsibility for the bad results. This is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better for Labour, it’s going to completely hollow out the party at grass roots level. Don’t be surprised if there’s a leadership challenge this summer.
Sunday Times put up a tweet saying that Sir Keir’s wife banned Labor MP Jenny Chapman from their house and subsequently deleted it.
