Not yet. Said he’ll stand down after a period of reflection.
Kay is on now for an early morning gloat.
Brexit means Brexit
Some good news
“With the results from Northern Ireland all done and dusted, it is the first time that more nationalist MPs have been elected there to parliament than unionist MPs.”
It’s good news for the constituents of Foyle and South Belfast that they will have representation in Westminster. Waste of time as ever electing Sinn Fein candidates.
Good news for who? The electorate dont want any part of Westminster
Emma Little-Pengelly, whose father was chief gunrunner for Ulster Resistance, Ian Paisley’s pet project, and importer of the consignment of lethal arms from South Africa which murdered scores of innocents, has lost her seat. The terrorist dad is her election agent. I could be wrong, but part of that deadly consignment was used to murder Pat Finucane, whose son outsed Nigel Dodds cc @ChairmanDan
And with Scotland gone to the SNP it’s ironic that the Conservative and Unionist party are going to preside over the break up of the Union. Every cloud and all that.
It’s time to stick a sock in the megaphone
I tried pointing this out to sid. He took it on board much as he takes anything on board that he has already made up his mind about.
The beast of Bolsover Denis Skinner loses the seat he’s held since 1970.
That is a pity . He is a great orator .
My impression (and I’ll confirm this on my January tour of the British heartlands) is that this was primarily a vote to end the Brexit deadlock. Once Johnson had manouvred to a deal and an election he was always going to win. The reason he won so big was that Labour were all over the shop on Brexit and the Corbyn policy platform was basically unelectable. Also the longer Corbyn was in the spotlight the more unappealing he appeared.
Johnson will get Brexit through now by the end of January and it will disappear as an issue. The public won’t care about free trade agreements. The Tories then have to govern but the opposition is in such a state that the Tories are almost guaranteed a second term. TheY may even get a third even if they are the worst of governments.
Last night is the consequence of ignoring the 2016 result. 400 constituencies voted to Leave yet the MPs in HoC were Remain at heart and tried everything to subvert democracy. Allied to Labours move away from representing Dagenham Dave and Warrington Willie in favour of Identity politics and Twitter likes last night was inevitable.
Even Thatcher liked him secretly apparently. A great character.
The reaction on Irish twitter is fairly angry .
Imagine if President Trump is re-elected next year .
English nationalism is a thing of beauty ---- it will eat them up from the inside. The Union is done - the North of England will be on its knees in 2 years but it will only entrench the rising hatred.
@flattythehurdler - it’s really, truly, time to come home pal.
The Irish, who continue to vote FFG for the last 100 years dont have a leg to stand on here… they should shut the fuck up and stop embarrassing us.
One will be pleased.
What last night showed, unequivocally, is that there are an alarming amount of forelock tugging, West Brits posting on this forum
