McGeary picks up both MOTM awards on BBC and RTE
“The referee was class” says Kieran McGeary. He sounded like he meant it too.
Tyrone deserving winners today. Always a good battle. A below par performance, one of many in recent times which is frustrating when aware of the abundance of quality footballers in the county. I hope we have new management for next year, and that Eoin McHugh has enough awareness to never represent Donegal at this level again. Many poor performances. The whole team was poor bar Langan, McFadden-Ferry and Eoghan Ban. McFadden was good but he needs to get fit enough to last a whole match. Great to have football back, looking forward to next year!
Looks fit.
Any obvious candidates?
I can’t think of many. McGuinness and Maxi Curran will probably be suggested.
If it’s in Croke Park I think it will suit Tyrone more than Monaghan.
I’d say McKenna for Kilpatrick is the only change Tyrone will make barring any injuries.
Hopefully Canavan might be available off the bench for Monaghan too.
None that are obvious. I’d say the possible candidates would be Rochford, McGuinness, McGonagle but I’ve a sneaky feeling that Martin McHugh will take the reins. I heard it said that it was Michael Boyle’s influence that engineered Gaoth Dobhair’s run in the All Ireland club series but I’m not sure if his contribution was being overstated by someone from the area.
I’d actually give Rochford a year to see if he can do anything different or Martin McHugh. We need people in there who’ve won trophies with their teams. We’ve won nothing significant for a long time at underage so nobody standout there.
I can’t see Jim taking it. He’s hellbent on the career in soccer currently but I’m sure it’ll be in his head tonight.
Malachy O’Rourke?
Maxi’s been angling for it but still hasn’t won anything significant with any team he’s been involved in bar his bit part role in 2012
Aye, forgot about Malachy. Micky Harte might throw his hat in the ring too. I think I’d prefer an outside manager at this point.
Heard Rochford only wants to coach, not manage.
I find it odd that Boyle is yet to coach his own club when they’ve had a few different guys take charge recently.
I heard that too. The Donegal job would be attractive though, especially with him knowing the crew now. The question is, how different, if any would things have looked today, from a personnel, injury and tactical perspective. We’ll never know how much influence Bonner let him have in the setup.
Hilarious! That’s how we talk. I think the reported panicked.
Saturday please.
Hurling quarter finals due the same weekend along with Leinster Final. Either could be moved to the Monday I suppose, allowing the Ulster final on Saturday.
Interesting to see what they do.
