Since when did cute hoorism make it’s way to Derry? Oh yeah, Harte is the new manager. If we’ve a full deck to choose from, we’d put it up to you but we’ve to many important figures on the walking wounded list. A run through the backdoor wouldn’t be the worst thing for us from a time standpoint in getting boys fit and sharp.

Will we do it?

With McGuinness, anything is possible. However, the odds are stacked against us. It’ll be a serious psychological boost for the team if they manage to overcome Derry.

I reckon this could be the greatest test Derry will get

I seen a stat that Jim lost one Ulster championship match in the 4yrs of managing in it. I can’t see Derry getting anything too easy of us. However, this game could be disgusting for the neutral and the level of disgust may bring about the demise of Pat Spillane.

Big ticket managers generally dont go anywhere that risks ruining their reputation. They parachute themselves into a good setup with good players. He must see a lot of potential

Jim McGuinness has never lost a championship game to a UK team.

Strangely enough Justin McNulty seemed to be be the only manager to have McGuinness’s measure which is why Laois would be a potential banana skin for Donegal in the round robin, if Laois were in the round robin, which they won’t be.

One win, one hammering, one narrow defeat. There might be another in there somewhere too

I doubt he’s too worried

Beat Donegal in the 2011 and 2012 NFL.

I foresee this being a bit like Glen Maghera v Glenties in last years Ulster Club campaign.

Donegal will make it difficult but ultimately the good guys will prevail.

There’s definitely potential there. We’ve the footballers, but I’m not sure if we’ve the leaders.

We must have beat them in D 1 so. I didn’t recall. We lost in the D2 final the year before iirc

It was in Ballyshannon, it was live on TG4. TG4 had none other than Kevin Cassidy as an analyst. McGuinness came over to talk to the presenter afterwards with Cassidy standing there too. It was a wee bit awkward to watch.

In Donegal, that’s a great understatement.

Ah yea, I remember it now. First game of the league iirc. Think we had Clancy or Quigley on the edge of the square mimicking Donaghy

Havn’t seen a confident man wearing Derry attire today yet. Seen a lad in the GK top. Hope he kept the receipt just in case he gets caught rapid.

The longer the day goes on the more confident I’m getting

Would it be handy enough to get a ticket for the Ulster final lads?

Armagh and Donegal are probably the two biggest followings in Ulster. But you’ll probably get one if you try hard enough. Getting tickets outside stadiums now has become a bit of a trip into the unknown now though with the online stuff.

I went up to a few Ulster finals with me oul’ fella in the 90s. '93 we had a prior arrangement for tickets. '94 we went up en spec and got two handy enough, from lads from Limerick of all places. '95 we went up again en spec. I don’t remember trying too hard to get tickets, but we bunked into the stadium by climbing over a fence at the back/side of the Hill along with dozens of others. There used to be a bit of a tradition at Ulster finals that people would stand on the hill outside the stadium which overlooked the Western Steps (the end to the left of the current camera angle) and get a free gander at the game. Not sure if you can still do this.

If you’ve never been to an Ulster final, it’s the sort of event which is worth going being in the town for even if you didn’t get in. It is quite the simply the single greatest occasion in the GAA. If you arrive early enough you’ll surely get in though.
