Reggie blinker was brought on at Ibrox (I was there) and applauded on by both sets of supporters.
Fuck sake, didnāt Fogarty win MOTM in at least one All Ireland? Surely thats rating enough.
Think Eoin Larkin listed Paul Curran as one of the toughest markers he has faced.

Ken McGrath speaks about John Hoyne.
Very good interview.
Ken is salt of the earth.https://youtu.be/Gd7RWrESZi0
He was also deemed a big enough star for RTEs dancing thing
Ray Cosgrove had very much entered this category by 2007.
Pat Gilroy was in this category for most of his career.
Denis Byrne rated Larry o gorman as the toughest he faced.
Not that I view everything through a Wexford prism or anything, but Ronan Curran stopped Wexford from winning the drawn All Ireland semi-final in 2003. He was unreal good throughout when others were flagging for periods or completely off colour. Setanta OāhAilpin helped too right enough.
Iād rate Hoyne a lot higher than most voters have so far.
A superb winner of primary possession, whether by catching it or breaking it to a teammate. He was central to the way KK played in those days and a very underrated example of the Cody mantra of āwin your own ballā
The āunseen workā theory doesnāt stack up for any player in my opinion!!
I mean at the top level , the games are watched at the venues by 10s of thousands, 100s of thousands on the TV, 30 colleagues on your panel, 30 of the opposition, the matches rewatched over and over again. It would be pretty hard to go through 70mins of a big match contributing handsomely to the cause without it being spotted by a few along the way!
A lot of āunseen workā is simply being in the right place to do simple things well. You donāt know youāre missing it until an inferior player is there and not picking up those same positions.
Hoyne was strong as a horse and is very much an alright sort. I remember playing full forward in a club football match against Graigue Ballycallan many years ago where I got kicked and bet around the place by a seasoned full back for the entire game. I was only a young fella at the time but Hoyne came over to me at the end to offer a few nice words. He was a giant of a man, hands like shovels
Most of these lads are yahoos who are only among for the pints on the train. Few would have the trained eye required to see the mountain of work some lads get through on a field. Some lads just donāt get it.
