Players who went off to a celebration. That happened Niall Moran one day
Canice Brennan
Iāve no vague recollection he was motm. Fogarty dropping in front of him allowed him follow Bonnar. They really worked in tandem.
It donāt think he should win the vote but he should be considered. Maybe some of the KK mafia here could more accurately appraise his contribution.
What was the issue with Bennett?
He was an excellent stickman just didnāt have the physicality or cut for championship hurling but he wasnāt terrible. A pure gadget hurler. He was in essence Pauric Mahoney 10 to 15 years before Pauric came on the scene.
Heart
Yeah he was a pure loose ball merchant
He got the mother & father of roastings in 2016, watching it here. Bar Holden it was actually bordering on abuse.
Apart from Corbett Fanning was Tipps best performer in the 09 and oh ten finals. They had John O Keefe at wing back for the 2011 final instead of him. He was an incalculable loss. In Tipp if course he got no credit as he wasnāt a loudmouth or show off.
Iād have Declan Fanning as one of the best corner backs Iāve seen. Him not being there in 2011 was a huge factor in that Tipp team falling away
You should see him at a Deli Counter, different gravy.
Paul Curran slipped (with a little help). Fanning was excellent in 09 and 10, he looked very leg weary in 2010, particularly in the 1st round of Munster down in the Pairc. Should have been on the Tipp panel alot earlier than 2004, a tough honest hurler.
He works in Coolmore fixing machinary akaik
Allow me to be slightly off the real topic here but Iāve a candidate for Faganās imaginary thread, Roscommonās Tony McManus.
Weād be hanging onto the fuckers until about 15 from the end and theyād start warming up a veteran Tony Mac. Our lads would look to the line and the blood would drain outa them.
Heād jog on to thunderous roars, trot about a bit and within 5-7 have squirreled one into the net. Our groans were well justified. A stake through the heart wouldnāt end himā¦
Head Mechanic.
Garvan McCarthys Goal in the 2004 Munster final was laughably bad.
āWhat a debut!ā
Eamonn Corcoran was a fine player but he won his All Star in the same year he won the All Ireland so not sure he should count
Agreed, who is underrating him?
Player of the tournament in 2 successive Fitzgibbon weekends - dont think its ever been matched.
Would Kieran Joyce be one for this thread. Centre back on a few KK all Ireland winning teams and probably a massive factor in shutting down Bonnar Maher in the 2014 replay?
I donāt think so, very strong physically and massive striker but his lack of mobility was well known. That particular final was a horses for courses effort in that it was as much about the legs that were set up around him to protect him from breaks - Buckley, P Walsh & C Fogarty all had to mind the space around him.
A very even distribution of votes so far. Surprised at the lack of love for John Hoyne, every forward line could do with a John Hoyne in its ranks.

Kilkenny had about 6 lads that looked like John Hoyne, hurled like john hoyne and wore black helmets. They have sort of all morphed into one in my admittedly small brain
Dougals Style was fairly unique TBF.
