Devastated to announce that I missed the final. Can anybody please provide a report and result?
Another Oxbridge clash tonight.
Surprisingly slow start by Bailliol, always one of the true blue bloods of the competition.
They were very slow getting âculture shockâ there. Pembroke must be a very poor house in Cambridge.
Easy win for them there. That must be one of the poorest Balliol teams to ever take part.
Paxmanâs practice of abandoning the question completely on the gong rather than the Mastermind practice of completing it continues to rankle. Manyâs the final question Iâve been left hanging on looking for the answer and never getting it. I wonder will I ever find out the name of the Scottish shellfish soup being described as the gong went tonight.
Iâd do Turner on tonightâs show.
I was just going to say Turner is my type. Would be even better if she wore glasses.
+1, sheâs lovely and sheâs the kind of girl you could actually have an interesting conversation with too.
Iâs say she has her contacts in for tonights show. She is very knowledgeable in the arts dept. Not too clever on her general knowledge though.
I felt for her at the finish, achingly lovely voice. An all-round lovely.
Ah she was terribly pretty and seemed a lovely polite sort. Glad I taped tonightâs episode. Weâll have her back for another round.
I actually have 2 rules based questions:
- If Team A interrupts a question and gets it wrong does Team B get penalised if they also interrupt and get it wrong?
- Do the same rules on interruptions apply on the music round?
- Not sure, but donât think they get penalised.
- No. Technically you could say the question has already been asked in full before the music starts to play though.
Unfortunately a trawl for âEleanor Turner Newcastle Universityâ has yielded slip pickings in the popular search engines Iâm acquainted with.

Screenshot down here. Wonât be enough for you I think!
I feel that photo doesnât do her full justice. Itâs lucky that like Rocko I too had the presence of mind to record the last three minutes. Itâs not much but itâs something. And she answered a question in that time.
Ah sheâs the best.
I think her facebook is private. Pretty sure this is she (despite the Estonia info) based on being a member of Newcastle University Academic Medicine Society.
Shannonsider, after a quick Twitter search I can inform you of the following. The lovely Eleanor is the daughter of Adair Turner, Chairman of both the UKâs Financial Services Authority and the âCommittee on Climate Changeâ.

Her mother is Irish - her name is Orna Ni Chionna.
