Never saw Maradona play live but I find it hard to believe Zidane could be that poor in comparison to anyone

Well now you know :+1:

I think zidane was on for undisputed top 5 status with Diego pele messi cr7 if he had kept his head and won that 06 final.

Yeah - bad behaviour means a lot in these things.

Maradona was a choir boy.

Zidane was much better than Maradonna ā€¦ Maradonna played most of his career in a really poor era that lads smoked and drank regularly.

Zidane barely makes the top 20

Heā€™s top 3 of all time behind Messi and R9

He wouldnā€™t lace Ronaldinhos boots

One thing that I often wondered about Maradona was why Barcelona sold him and why he spent his best years at a then small Italian club?

His reputation off field obviously,

Lad. Stopā€¦

His control was off the chartsā€¦ It looked like he was gliding on a pitch. He could control games, assist, score, beat players, tackleā€¦ Whatever you wanted and he made it look simple. He was sublime.

You YouTube lads watching highlights are clueless.

A different era.

Italian league was way ahead of Spain at the time.
It was the best and most lucrative n Europe.

Ah will ye stop FFS.Maradonna Messi Zidane CR7 Ronaldinho in that order

Most lads here only judge this stuff through the lens of Sky Sports.

Very little to do with his behaviour. Being the key man in two world cup wins would have put him on a level with only pele

  1. Salah
  2. Messi
  3. Maradona
  4. Gerrard
  5. Zidane

Reading in Shoot in September 1992 that Des Walker was on the equivalent of 30 thousand British pounds a week at Sampdoria blew my mind.

Michel Platini was a better footballer than Zinedine Zidane. But Zidane is better at non-speaking cameo appearances in Olympic opening ceremonies and Champions League draws. He has perfected a particular type of deliberately foolish smile that is perfect for these television settings.

R9
Messi
Zidane
Maradonna
Pele.

Thatā€™s the top 5 and no one else comes near them.

Zico was my favourite player when I was a young lad. 48 goals in 71 games for Brazil.

Platini was a superb player, is there an equivalent these days? I havenā€™t seen much football in the last ten years, the mid 80s French were a joy to watch
