I think someone said it here before but he seems to be at his best when heā€™s not the main man in the forwards. He sort of became the main man after Canning retired. He could never seem to find a yard of space and he always seemed to have two opponents up on his back as well as the rest of the Galway team. He didnā€™t look like a fella who was enjoying his hurling much these past couple of seasons but with lads like Rabbite, Niland and Burke breathing new life into things Whelo is starting to look back to his best again.

Jerry Grogan is past it as stadium announcer for Croke Park. Iā€™d get your man from Semple Stadium as replacement. He seems to add to the atmosphere.

The new guy in Thurles is a Drom man cc @StoneCold but heā€™s a long way to go yet to match the gravitas of the iconic Liam Oā€™Donnchu who must have been at it forever until he stepped aside a couple of years back.

Jerry Gogan is still the best in the business but Iā€™ve a growing soft spot for the lady on the PA in Walsh Park.
