Heās a fuckinā helmet.
Marian is lovely, Iāve known her since she was a little girl
Sharlene was never the same after racing Boogie Mara
Harsh⦠but he might be too
. But you cant doubt for Irish athletics
I like Rob. Bit of an ego but he is from Cork.
This may not be unpopular but David Gillick is the best commentator/Interviewer/journalist this country has.
Heās superb. Has been for years.
He should be taking over Kielty.
Heās a good part of RTEās coverage but he has a very easy job. He smiles and says howya to athletes, throws a few softball questions and lets the athletes talk. Itās an easy job because unlike association football players and GAA players, athletes want to talk. Being an athlete helped him at the start in terms of getting people to do interviews. His reputation would have grown through word of mouth that he was āsoundā and wasnāt going to ask any hard questions and so the big names from outside Ireland are often willing to talk.
Itās not exactly Paxman level stuff.
Hes perfect for the job and does the job heās given very well Iām not sure why paxman even has to come into the conversation. Tony O Donoghue tries a bit of that and comes across as a cunt and makes us all feel uncomfortable.
Association football audiences demand different things than audiences for Olympic sports. They demand soap opera and controversy. Theyāre also generally much more familiar with the participants than they are with Olympic sports. Also the team element adds more scope for both tactical discussion and soap opera.
Audiences for athletics are generally not as familiar with the participants. Most viewers see Andrew Coscoran or Sarah Lavin at best once a year. The dynamic of athletics and indeed swimming or gymnastics is theyāre mainly individual sports which donāt get a lot of publicity, arenāt particularly lucrative and are largely solitary pursuits. The floating viewer is naturally more inclined to root for the Irish participant they see and is more forgiving if they donāt win or fail to perform to expectations.
Association football coverage is a more combative and critical environment because audiences demand it to be. If athletics was covered in the same manner association football is there would be a very negative reaction. The same is true of the vice versa.
GAA falls somewhere between those two stools as people deeply want controversy and soap opera and chaos but you also have the priest brigade constantly telling us players have to get up in the morning who want to kill off any colour being added.
Rooney calls this out hereā¦
Rooney with a lad to actually train the team could be a top manager but he seems to have been sickened of it.
Wazza with an interpreter and never mind the coaching staff.
Itās simply that players donāt understand what heās sayingā¦.
You might as well have someone barking orders in Arabic,
What are peopleās opinions on fast passes for theme parks/waterparks?
I refuse to buy them for a few reasons and then spend the day grumbling about the cunts that do buy them, what a shitty system though , really designed to rage bait ![]()
I think it says a lot about you as a person
weāve had lads use them on school tours where the parents have bought them and handed them on, the lads who had them got to do more a good few more activities and rides anecdotally.
Only thing is this time of the year, would things nearly be quietening to the point you mightnāt really need them? Big crew are back to school next week.
Iām back from 11 days in the Algarve and we went to 3 waterparks, only one had the fast passes and it was only a tenner dearer
I just think itās a shitty idea and Iād feel like a prick
Iād say youād be the finest without them tbh
You bad bastard ![]()
It depends what park and when etc. We were in Tayto park yesterday and the queues werent too bad but tgere were still a fair few doing it and they got great value for it whatever it cost.
Siam park is a water park in tenerife that is class. We went in march(off season) this year and some of the queues were massive. Youd have taken the fast pass immediately but they werent very cheap. 180ish i think for fast pass and all you can eat and drink. Thats a lot if theres 4 of youā¦
From what ive heard youd be a fool not to get them in big parks in the US.
I donāt get the discussion? Ive always been too mane to buy them but why would you feel any way bad about it?
I had a fast pass of sorts in disney for my young lad with additional needs. If the queue was 2 hours long they gave you a card with the time written on it and you went back at that time and got straight on.
180 a head??
