Upcoming Republic of Ireland friendlies

Mexico have too much pace .

Yes. Itā€™s not going well

I assume the FAI got a decent cheque for this ?

I guess this is the game to try it and then forget about it.

They probably had to pay for it.

Iā€™d say heā€™s only trying it because of our lack of options in other positions. We have 6 centre halves and no left backs in the squad. Weā€™re playing two wingers in centre midfield, Iā€™m not sure why Oā€™Kane isnā€™t starting

How do Oā€™Dowda and Christie look?

Christieā€™s been our best player going forward but thereā€™s a lot of their play going down his side. Oā€™Dowdaā€™s been poor but heā€™s playing out of position tbf. Mexico are embarrassing us at the moment

For fucks sake.

What changes did Oā€™Neill make at half time (not that theyā€™re doing us any good)?

Ireland have never beaten Mexico. We wonā€™t be starting now, 3-0.

Why are we so useless against any decent side? Iā€™m getting serious mocking here from the beaners.

Because we have been enslaved by the british way of playing football (loosely termed) which involves just hoofing the fucking thing as far as possible and running after it, instead of passing and moving. Itā€™s called football for a reason. The sooner we start sending our young players to the continent instead of brexit land the better. This is what that fuckwit Delaney and the FAI should be doing, building relationships with academies and clubs in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy etct etc and making sure no decent young Irish player ever sets foot in England or Scotland.

Neat finish from Stephen Gleeson, 1-3

Or maybe weā€™re just shit and produce one or two class players every generation.

I donā€™t think we are. You donā€™t necessarily need to have monster world class players to compete. Our players donā€™t have the technical ability to play passing football as a team. Theyā€™re good footballers and I have no doubt there are plenty of young good footballers in Ireland who could be potentially very good professional and even representative footballers if they were playing in the right cultural set up. Our slavishness towards England as the only option has held our national teams back.
It has always amazed me how few Irish players have played professional football outside of England and to a lesser extent Scotland. We should be by passing these Neanderthal countries. Weā€™re a European country, maybe our footballing authorities should start acting like we are.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Very few English footballers have played on the continent mate, and they have 10x our population and itā€™s their national game. At least we have the hurling and Gaelic excuse.

Iā€™m just saying we have suffered from not sending young Irish players to countries other than Britain to learn their trade. That simple enough for you?

Yes and thatā€™s gone well for them hasnā€™t it?

What heā€™s saying mate is that Barca and the Madrids would be lining up to sign our budding superstars if it wasnā€™t for that embryonic leash we have with England and Scotland.
