From a betting perspective Woods and McIlroy are shocking prices. Mickelson and Donald are better value. Webb Simpson 70/1 and Bubba Watson at 55/1 are my outside picks.
I did an auld random sweep in work with the top 11 golfers and AN Other/The Field assigned to the 12 staff.
Checked with a pal in PP and was surprised to learn that in that instance, the field is about evens. I drew Adam Scott and was happy to get a fellow Aussie with a reasonable shot at the title. Looking fwd to Sunday evening now.
From a betting perspective, it can often be worth spotting a couple of high odd bolters. When they shoot a good first round their odds nose dive and then you can trade out on betfair.
I’d agree that there’s no value in the Woods/McIlroy’s of this world.
I had Tom Watson at 1500/1 e/w when he came second in The Open. Only 25c each way but it was a welcome almost €100.
