He hasn’t been too far wrong in saying that he could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and wouldn’t lose support.
Vile misogynism, bragging about sexual assault as well as numerous credible allegations of sexual assault didn’t cost him female support, and that’s against the backdrop of #metoo.
No blacks vote for him anyway, and being caught on tape calling Omarosa or some staffer or reality TV contestant the n word would not change that. I feel it would also be highly unlikely to significantly affect his support among whites, because his support is similar to a cult.
It would likely be enough to knock off just enough of it to stop him being re-elected, however.
It will come down to the economy.

Every person who is already a Trump supporter supports him in the full knowledge that he’s a racist.
For many, that’s a large part of the appeal and a huge reason for the cult-like nature of his support.
Therefore it’s deluded in the extreme to think that he’d lose much support were he to be caught on tape uttering the n word.

If you ever visited the US you would find there are very few racists here. On a relative basis far far fewer than Ireland for example.
